What a weekend, finally getting some much needed rain. Have a couple of days to work around the shop. Picked up a couple of metal drawer cabinets on craigslist. They were brand new government surplus cabinets with roller drawer guides. Bought two for $75. The width fit perfect under the welding table being built.

Picked up a set of heavy duty roller drawer guides from Lowes, they are suppose to support 100 lbs. Using them on a shelf under the welding bench to put the chop saws on. Used 1x2 tubing drilled and tapped to mount the guides on and welded to the supports. Used square tubing to build the frame and drilled and tapped it for the other side of guide.

Set the saws on just to make sure it will hold the weight and operate.

Need to put some sheet metal on the sides of the cabinets to keep **** from getting inside. Another project.

She's not pretty but she's still my welding table.

You said two cabinets, is what shown in the pic one?
You gonna put the 2nd on this table too?
Looks good from here!
Were you confident in the rollers after testing them?
And what section of CL are you finding these relics?!

Thats one cabinet, going to use the other one in a work bench. I think the guides will work like a champ. they will not be extended that often. Going to try to get a 1/2 inch top, sheet metal for the shelf and some expanded metal this week. I usually just type in metal cabinet or steel cabinet and do a search on CL. The guy has a few more and been thinking about getting a couple more.

Richards Metal Buildings out of Blanchard. I think he will pretty much build anywhere in the state. He has built several buildings for me, most used commercially.

Best move we ever made. We lived in SW OKC, Moore school district until my kids graduated. Moved out by Tuttle 8 years ago, wish I had moved earlier.

When we moved back here we found out 11 days before we moved that we were moving. The only place we could get in to was in Moore, the city street traffic in Moore is a nightmare. We had multiple problems with the Moore schools and a child of mine that has some special needs. Things have been better since we moved to MWC. Our house isn't 4 feet from the next door neighbor like it was in Moore but it's still the city. I'd still like to be on some land, I'm keeping my eye out for property in the Minco, Union City areas. I think east of Norman or the Guthrie would be a good affordable area

Finally have time to work in the shop. Finished the welding table and start building a workbench. Welded a jig on the table to build the bulk heads to the bench.

Clamped together, maybe tomorrow will have time to start putting it all together. This is the toolbox that will be integrated into the bench.

Looking good Bob
Drove by the store Saturday morning on the way to the OU loss and didn't see your truck. Did you get a Saturday in the shop as well?
I actually carved a couple hours in my shop this weekend too. Very rare with three kids...

Almost finished with the workbench. I have a couple of solid core doors that will be under the metal top and cabinet that go above the workbench.

Very nice. I too went with I beams over trusses and a steeper pitch for a lift and have been very happy with it. The floor looks good and you give me another idea for inside walls. Was thinking of just using 4x8 decking as I can generally get the stuff relatively cheap. Your route of utilizing tin inside provides for more thought. Thanks for sharing.

my73ss350, thats exactly why I went with I beams and a 4:12 pitch. I have 16 foot clearance in the center for a lift.

Not all that bad.. It's a good day to stay inside. I've got a fire going in the fireplace (inside the house) and the heaters are turned on in the garage. As soon as it warms up a bit I'll do some cleaning until I get tired/bored. Then I'll come back in to some of the stew my wife just started.

If I'm lucky they will shut down the office due to the slick ice. ...doesn't happen often but once in a while....

Planned on releasing carbon with the wood stove in the little workshop, but mama got sick and had to pull Mr. Mom patrol instead.
One upside to the snow is it covered up the leaves I hadn't gotten around to raking up yet!
