Fixing to start my new shop. It is going to be a 30x40 metal C purlin building with concrete slab.

I previously had a 24 x 30 with the 24ft facing the driveway/ street. Single 10ft rollup door on the 24 ft side and a single walk in door on the 30ft side.

My new shop I was wanting the 40ft side to face the road and have two rollups on the 40ft side as sell as the walk in door in between them.

Looking for feedback from anyone that has a setup like this

1) how does it work
2) Ups and downs

Any feedback will be greatly appreciated. I got a couple weeks before forms get set

Gonna be tight. My garage is 48x24 with two 18' wide garage doors flanking a center walk through door. The garage doors are set 1.5' from the 24' long walls, which leaves 9' between the garage doors for the walk in door.

Assuming you go for 16' rollup doors, if you set the doors 1' away from your 30' long walls, you end up with 6' in the center for the walk in door. With a 32" wide door, this leaves you with 18" to either side of the door.

Assuming the intent is to fit 4 vehicles in the garage, with space in the middle to walk through the door there isn't going to be much space on the 30' walls to store stuff. This will pretty much mean the rear wall will be the only usable wall for storage. You are also going to find that to have space between full size cars parked in the garage so you can open the doors, you are going to be angling them away from each other towards the outside walls and towards the walk through area in the center. The net is the center front door is not going to be as practical as having a side door on a 30' wall towards the back of the building and 18' wide roll ups. 18' wide roll ups will allow you to pull vehicles straight in and out while having the same amount of space between the vehicles. Parking the vehicles straight in will also help ensure that you have the maximum amount of space in front of the vehicles and minimize the space between the garage doors and the vehicles. Lastly if you intend to put lifts in, 18' doors are going to work much better since you'll have the room to pull straight on to the lift runways or into position for the lift arms. It is also going to make it much easier to park in the space next to a lift.

Actually only one car will be in it, but a frame table will be set in place as well.

Both sides of shop the 30ft sides will be lined with shelves

The back wall will consist of lathe, welders, drill press, bandsaws and tool boxes
