Just put an offer on a property with a 50x80 Ag building/ to be shop.
Is there site/program that can help with the layout. I am figuring I will put in a enclosed wood shop (keep the saw dust in one spot!), space for a couple of storage lifts, repair lift, small machine shop (small mill, small lathe, welder, etc.), man cave/office!!
Needless to say this will a long term project. Right now the building is a blank canvas.
I am probably getting ahead of the game, but a guy has got to dream.

Graph paper and scale model cutouts of large tools, workbenches, toolboxes, etc.

Crude, but effective.

Thanks, tdkkart! That Grizzly workshop planner is great! I was going to suggest Microsoft Visio but it's as if someone customized Visio for shops, plus it's free.

I just finished planning my 3200 sq ft shop. I ended up using SmartDraw, they have a 30 day free trial, I ended up liking it alot so I bought it.

Thanks for the options, I tried the Grizzly program but it is limited to 50x70.
I have played with SketchUp and will need a lot more practice.
I will look at the Mircosoft Visio to see what it has to offer.
There is plenty of time since the property isn't mine yet and shop
will not first on the agenda.
But we all love to "plan"
Thanks

Chuck-

A even simpler solution is to draw out the birdseye view of the shop using Microsoft Excel. Granted, it will only be able to create a floorplan and not any kind of external 3-D views, but it may be an option. I created a floor plan in Excel that I handed to my GC and he built my workshop from that one sheet of paper!

Thanks for the ideas on how draw up the layout.
I have now spent a ton of time learning Google's
Sketch-up program.
So much room, to many ideas.
Ah...... Dreaming is good.
