Finally after about 5 years of waiting, I finally have my shop about done. It is a 40x60 w/ a 16x60 overhang. As much as I love the size of the building, I think the overhang is one of my favorite parts. After already building a 24x30 10 yrs ago, I wish i would have just saved up and built what I wanted to begin with. Only thing left to do is wire it and build the bathroom. Had to glue the piggy bank back together so hopefully will have it finished in the next few months. Also about to hopefully start construction on the house in the next few months so at least I won't have two major projects going at the same time.

I havn't got any current shots of the floor or doors up yet so hopefully I'll get those posted soon.

Thanks everyone!

WHat does a unit like this cost, if I'm not out of line asking??
Thanks!

I think so far w/ everything minus the bathroom (5'x8'), electrical, and lights it is around $38,000. That includes the grading, construction, concrete, under ground service and 200amp box, septic tank, Drum and walk in doors, epoxy for floors, and gravel for entrance and overhang off back.

Thats a nice size for my land,id like to know also.where did you find the plans.

I Designed the layout and sub'd out all the work. A local general contractor, J Davis Construction built the building.

Re: More Photos!

That's one heck of a nice shop, bud! More info on the stang?

BTW I'm in Charleston, where are you?

Thanks. I'm in the upstate in a little town called Walhalla. We are about 15 minutes from Clemson University. The Mustang is a work in progress that has been put on the back burner since the shop construction started back in the summer and about to start the house construction on top of the hill in the pictures above the shop. It's basically an '89 stock style suspension car I am building for stock suspension races locally. My main goal is for it to be streetable to go to cruise nights and for weekend driving. I put a 12pt chrome moly cage in it , all Wolfe stock style suspension and all tubular front end set up for the front, stock interior and have a pretty healthy 514 big block ford going in w/ a powerglide. Right now, just building up pieces as I go along and looking for deals on trans, converters, and such.

Here are a couple of photo's but nothing too recent.

Awesome shop. I am planning on building a 30x56 on my land. My question is how far are the roof trusses apart from one another. I just got a estimate and the roof trusses are 4 feet apart from one another. That seemed a little far apart for me. Hopefully you could tell me if I am worring to much or is 4 feet the standard pole barn roofing truss spacing. Thanks alot Im new to this pole barn building style

Since you are near Clemson University, I thought that you might find this interesting. This is another Forum that I'm on and this builder did a great job on his car and has a very interesting paint scheme. http://www.ffcobra.com/forums/showthread.php?t=194947&highlight=Clemson

That is cool! I've never seen that car out and about. You'd be surprise how many people around here go w/ the Clemson paint scheme! As they say this is "Tiger Country". I'll like Clemson and pull for them, but I don't think I could put a tiger paw on that beautiful car. Orange paint scheme I don't mind, but I could do w/o the paw. Do you know this guys name? Westminster is just a town over. I thought I knew all the hotrodders around here.

Freakin' Awesome!!!
Thanks man!

My are 4ft apart. The contractor has a ton of this building in my area w/ no problems. Before I decided on the builder, I got a quote from another reputable builder and they space their's 6' apart. I would say you would be find unless you are planning on some serious storage in which I would check further into the spacing and I know you will have to go w/ a load bearing truss. Hope this helps.

I like it... nice finish on the concrete. I like the roll-up doors (you guys can get away with that in the warmer climes).

Overall it's winner!

I agree with the concrete finish. I really like it. What did you use?

I am getting ready to do mine and I like that finish a lot.

Shocker, I used a PPG industrial 2 part epoxy from Porter Paints. They claimed they have a lot of it down in industrial plants and that it is the best stuff they have seen work so far to heavy use and forklift abuse. Only thing is they reallllllly stress that the floor has to been spotless (preferably new) and to acid etch it before applying.

Thanks!

I almost didn't add the overhang and know now I would be kicking myself b/c of saving alot of space on the inside. Yes, 12' ceilings and where the ATV is sitting is where the bathroom is going. Trying to decide on an 8x8 or 8x10 bathroom. Don't need a lot of room for a toilet and sink but mainly want the storage on top. I know 2' doesn't sound like alot but doesn't anyone have any suggestions or ideas I haven't thought about?

8x8 is pretty big for just a toilet and sink. I wouldn't go any bigger unless you need the storage space. Just my .02
