I will be putting up a 26x40 garage at my house in the spring. It will have a 1 foot concrete pony wall above ground and 12' studs on top of that. No windows 1 36" man door and a 12x12 over head door. Also going to have a 12x40 storage lean too along the one side for storing my RV under.

I will be putting a 10k 2 post hoist in it and am trying to lay out where I will want things inside and also so I can plan for the thickened concrete for the hoist. The small room is 10x6 and will have my compressor inside it as well as my electrical panel and will be for clean storage. Planning on having mezzanine storage above the room for keeping tires and stuff.

This is what I drew up quickly. I am thinking the hoist needs to go towards the door another couple feet but I do want room to navigate another vehicle along side the hoist.

What do you all think?

My first thought is why not get a slightly bigger garage door so that it is easier to navigate and you can pull the lift back some. First Thing I noticed.
Another possibility would be to center the garage door a little more so its a choice of pulling into the lift or pulling next to the lift. If big vehicles are going in and out that may not work but a normal truck or car that shouldn't be a problem.

Ya I am thinking the lift will be mounted at the mid point of the shop to give more room in front with a vehicle on it. I figured a 12' door would be plenty wide. The reason for the door placement is where I am building the shop to get it to line up with the driveway that is already there. I am taking down a current 15x20 garage.
