I just closed on a new shop for my business. It is a 12,000 sq ft building that used to be a production facility for aviation components. It has 4 restrooms, a locker room, 4 offices, a show room, a kitchenette and what used to be their inspection room will be my engine building room. The layout turned out to be nearly perfect for my diesel performance shop to move right in. I will need to add a few walls to finish separating the kitchenette from the show room and will be opening the locker room/restroom into an adjoining closet to make room for a shower and washer/dryer.

The building was foreclosed on and came with everything in it. There is a compressor room off the back with a Quincy 50 and Quincy 30 Rotary compressors in it. There are 2 Starrett Granite tables, 3 working Mazak Ultra 650 palletech milling machines on a palletron system, a spare parts Mazak Ultra 650, more tooling bits than I have had time to inventory, a Jet vertical self feed band saw, Yuasa bit sharpener, 30 ton Carolina Tool and Equipment shop press, Rockwell Hardness Tester, and a lot of work benches, desks, filing cabinets, and tables, and a lot of titanium and aluminum scrap. By the time I sell off everything I don't need I will recover a good portion of the purchase price.

My mechanics are loving the idea that the entire shop is climate controlled and will have more than enough space for us to work. With me owning the building I plan to invest a good bit into it to make all of our lives easier. Oil and transmission fluid will be dispensed from nozzles at each lift; there will be stations for each of our common tasks with all the tools we need there; and with the doors closed the shop won't get leaves or anything blown in. Before moving in I plan to have the shop floor coated. I will be putting in 3 more Forward 10,000 lb lifts and a 15K before we start working there, then move my current 3 after.

With the added space we are planning to expand our capabilities, bringing more processes in house where we will have complete control over the quality of work done and faster turn around times - starting with a top of the line CWT Industries balancer. We have already bought a Miller 350P Pulsed MIG welder with a push-pull gun setup for aluminum; a 5' sand blasting cabinet; a lathe; an end mill; a hotflusher transmission flusher; and a coolant exchanger.

If anyone knows of anyone looking for a Quincy 50 or the CNC equipment PM me for contact info.

As soon as I have a chance to get some decent pics I will post them up. Need to do before and after pics anyway. Plan to take and post pictures of the progress on setting it up as a mechanic shop.
