Still no word about my ratchets after the communication with them via Instagram a few days ago, when the rep switched from “I’ll get replacements sent out” to “actually I’m not customer service and can’t do that”

My order has not shipped yet either.

This just gets crazier and crazier. I received 4 wrenches from my order. No email that anything has shipped or anything lol. So, I open the box and these are the two I’ve opened so far. Unreal. The finish, the pitting or machine marks or whatever those are around the head/teeth. Can’t make this stuff up.

Still no word on my ratchets. A78E9F5D-8FCA-40B9-9949-E3BA7DC4D721.jpegF3B0E190-0698-4B36-BB9E-EAB7EB98E0CE.jpegD277C2F2-AC2D-4312-B750-C6BAE3B8D1F1.jpeg54D70BA2-4E24-4E19-BD5F-49712931D202.jpegDBBE3B3D-1591-4196-B705-8D877730C116.jpeg6AF0230C-31CE-4E93-A7EE-711AC029F3A7.jpeg

Dang, that looks like crapolla. Hard to believe they'd send anything out looking like that.

The broaching wouldn't bother me any at all. The appearance of the wrenches is another story. It's hard to tell in the pictures is the chrome poor and pitted or is it overspray from the paint? It looks like poor chrome but if it's paint, that will rub off. I'm surprised that passed quality control.

I ordered a dead blow hammer and 3/8 19mm flare crow wrench. The crows foot came fast but I'm still waiting on the hammer. I emailed customer service Tuesday and they email me back today. They weren't sure why it hasn't shipped yet because it's in stock at the warehouse. The rep has going to contact the manager and get it shipped ASAP but we'll see.

I'm not sure why certain people seem allergic to old school phone calls.

The phone works great and the results equally as well.

I've had a few chrome SK issues and a simple phone call remedied that. 5 minute of explaining the issue, my address and 5 days later wrenches arrived in perfect condition.

This is the world's worst time for SK.
Covid ******** still lingering...company sale transition...

I got some Sotm that the chrome was like that but when I rubbed it it was coming off. It was like something was on the finish. If it just doesn’t come of with water or wd4d I would call them wtf. I have received only 3 things from my orders. I am going to give them one more week then I will call. Some stuff was from the dotd and some was regular orders.

I’ll keep it all in writing. Lots of companies having a hard time. I’m not getting this kind of **** from them though. Rest of the world has kept on truckin.

In the areas around the head and points, it’s pits and machining marks. Similar to what’s on cheap harbor freight ones but covered in shinier chrome.

The other dull areas….no clue what it is. Im polishing it off with my Dremel. Just hard to believe that one of America’s most prestigious tool makers is sending out sloppy products like this. No way not to notice this stuff.

To all those that keep acting like this should all be ok, poor SK just having a hard time, should just call (even though they say to email and have told many to contact via social media), etc……… y’all need to raise your standards. Or just shut up and take that ignorance elsewhere. If foreign companies are knocking out solid products and exhibiting great CS then so can SK. I don’t have much time for folks that can’t get that. SK waited weeks to ship me half of my order then stuck garbage in my box. Everyone keeps talking about the sale of the company, but LOTS of companies get sold and resold. They don’t suddenly start sucking.

Covid didn’t prevent them from rolling out a host of anniversary products. 😂

The rest of the world? Maybe...

The U.S. no...

I have a garage and trust me when i tell you it's damn ridiculous the impract Covid still has in this country.

I emailed pictures (otherwise I'd call) of a Bestop issue for a customer.
A simple email with a simple question. 8 days later i got a response.
I needed to call afterward regardless.
I was #68 in the queue. #68 on hold for a ******* Jeep top.

I can't get a lot of product right now because Covid has people sitting on extended unemployment while **** is sitting in containers. I need a Rogue driveshaft for a customer right now with zero stock and no window of fulfillment.

What I don't understand is you're putting forth a ton of effort to bash a company when a simple phone call would've remedied the matter.?.

I’m not bashing them. And I don’t want any more of these ratchets. I’m just following through with letting folks know how SK is handling things. And it isn’t a lot of trouble lol. It’s taken maybe a total of an 30 minutes total since creating the post.

Also, at this point I have called. And left a message. no return call. 👍🏼🤷🏼‍♂️

And you are right about the off-road industry right now. Very backlogged. Every company handling it differently there too though. Last two sales metal cloak personally has called folks when their order started taking over a certain time
Period (can’t remember how long) and when I received it it was the quality expected. SK chose to put wrenches that look like those in my box. The come in clear baggies. No way to miss it. 🤷🏼‍♂️

I'm not sure what you call it but you seem adamant in announcing the handling of a warranty issue like it's a mission...or rather a vendetta?
I've had no problem getting a live body from SK nor any issues getting a problem resolved. I call though.

I think it's pretty clear you want nothing to do with SK and that's your prerogative. Following through with how a company is handling a warranty appears more like kicking a wounded dog to me.
I can assure you if you had picked up the phone your issue would've been expedited.

If I spent the energy and time you are driving home some message of bad dealings I've come across...my god I'd get nothing done in a day.
I had Snap on replace angle wrenches as the chrome looked like they were pulled behind a truck.
It pisses me off I have to sift through pliers on that truck to make sure they're USA and not Spain or whatever. It's annoying alright but i don't feel the need to go all in frenzy mode with internet posts about my dissatisfaction.

The tool world is far from perfect and today you have many options out there to spend your money on.

Given what is going on with the company at present and Covid...
Nothing is normal right now.
Just because they aren't rolling out the red carpet for "your" special emails or snapgram or whatever it's called doesn't mean they don't care etc.

To all those that keep acting like this should all be ok, poor SK just having a hard time, should just call (even though they say to email and have told many to contact via social media), etc……… y’all need to raise your standards. Or just shut up and take that ignorance elsewhere.

I haven't seen anyone say "this should all be ok". You are acting unhinged and people are responding accordingly. You've made 34 posts complaining about this transaction, you copied and pasted the same text in multiple topics to flood the forum one day, you posted on Friday and then gave an update on Sunday even though they aren't open on the weekend, and you call forum members ignorant. That is not normal. Most others who posted complaints have been much more reasonable.

A huge sale that generates 58,444 views with one topic on Slickdeals could make a healthy company back logged. This doesn't mean that the problems are okay. It just means it isn't unexpected and it may take longer so have greater patience. And this is not a healthy company. They just sold the company, so it's even more likely that things aren't running smoothly. Again, this doesn't mean that the problems are okay. It just means it isn't unexpected and it may take longer so have greater patience. There is also a pandemic. You seem to think none of that affects anything but that isn't realistic. Again, it doesn't mean the problems are okay but they aren't unexpected.

You could have refused delivery of the wrenches. If you weren't there at the time of delivery, you could have left a note for the carrier. Or if you hadn't opened it, you could have scheduled a pickup of the refused package.

Most of the photos are too blurry to see. What I can see in the last photo looks bad so return to it. I haven't read SK's return policy. Is there a return address on the box? If there is a return address, you could just send it back.

For the other perspective, I don't think memcdowe is being overly aggressive here.

I'm assuming his information is accurate and truthful, so if he reports he emailed or called and no response within X time frame I believe him. What you do with that information is up to you.

Obviously he's upset, and I don't blame him.

If you find the info in this thread useless, simply don't read the thread. There are plenty of threads I simply no longer click on because I know the inevitable outcome or I just don't care.

I do get a good laugh at others telling one poster they've wasted their time posting while clearly the reader has wasted an equal amount of time reading. Maybe manage your own time and don't tell others how to manage theirs???

As for the topic, I finally got all my SK stuff. The entire experience was SLOW but otherwise "meh, fine." It certainly wasn't exceptional and so SK falls near the bottom of my list for future purchases. Maybe Great Star can help 'em out -- I'd rather have import tools that work well and are built with consistency than US tools that are a 50/50 crapshoot.

There are some very sensitive folks in this forum. Spent hundreds of dollars on premium tools. I didn’t get premium tools.

I didn’t “flood the forum” (dramatic much? Lol) by copying the same text all over. I wrote a comment on this (my) thread and copied it to one other.

I apologize for being “unhinged” (😂😂😂) about it.

Yall say what ya want, what I’ve received is a rip off. Been about a month. A rep has told me that it’s already been expedited to the customer service team.

They have offered returns on the wrenches I’ve received so far, but as I was able to polish them up sufficiently I declined. Still think I’m unreasonable and crazy? Smh. Still waiting on the other half of my wrench order.

Still no word on how they are going to handle the ratchet issue.

I have no “vendetta” (again, so dang dramatic lol) against SK.
I don’t like spending hundreds of dollars and receiving items that weren’t even checked or looked at prior to shipping them.

Done with this thread. For those that wanted a follow up I apologize. Thank the trolls on this thread for, as they so often do on forums, just making it not worth the effort.

Dang, that looks like crapolla. Hard to believe they'd send anything out looking like that.

Agreed, it looks like total ****.

At this point in the game, having seen as many examples just in this thread and a few others recently, is it really still that hard to believe? My opinion of SK has gone into the ******* based on own experience with the 1/4" extension set and now reading and seeing all this. If the customer service was taking care of these issues, that'd be one thing, but that isn't happening either.

To all those that keep acting like this should all be ok, poor SK just having a hard time, should just call (even though they say to email and have told many to contact via social media), etc……… y’all need to raise your standards.

Not everyone values their time or their money. Most of the people who don't value their time spend a good deal of it trolling, because they have nothing else to contribute and nothing better to do.

I'm not even sure the suckage is anything new. LP90s have never been great and I've seen and read about chrome issues for years, just not nearly this frequently. Seems almost to have gotten worse if anything, though part of that sentiment is probably the availability heuristic at work.

I appreciate the follow up and knowing how they handle this situation (or in this case, didn't). Thanks for keeping us up to date so far, it's unfortunate but eye opening at the same time.

I agree 100%, everyone giving SK a pass is hilarious. The company hasn't done anything in the past 15y to earn your money or praise. People put to much value on nostalgia, I personally don't care for it. I want quality tools at affordable prices or higher, if I pay top dollar for an item I expect top quality.

I stopped buying SK as soon as I got my first LP90, out of the box it was junk. Bad chrome job, ridiculous stiff and stuck switch. Why the heck do I have to modify my new ratchet to make it work?

Like some tool dealer in YouTube said(thing his name is Tg), good riddance and good bye. To those who are complaining about great start buying it, that company has more potential to bring them back from the dead then ideal ever had.

People have messaged asking that I keep reporting on this so I will. Ignore the trolls folks.

Still waiting on response re ratchets. I have 4 of the wrenches I ordered. They offered refund I passed. I got them up to par and am happy given sale price. One other wrench coming in today. Then hopefully the rest ship Monday.

So far no tool has shown up looking and/or performing anything like you’d expect from SK.

Their IG person said tiny skeleton crew running everything.

I’ll keep y’all posted, and I’ll try not to be “unhinged” 😂😂🤣🤷🏼‍♂️🤗

I'm sitting on the edge of my seat waiting to hear all about the return. I hope we get two or three updates daily on the progress of the delivery then several more detailing every aspect of this absolutely hoffific event.

Please don't spare the details.

Looks like someone used it as a hammer of bad cast. Anyway that *****. I only have the old round ones glad I never got the new ones. I have not got everything from SK that bad. On some tools I get from them the chrome looks funny but when I rub it with my finger it comes off don’t know if it missed a step in washing or not. It takes forever whenever they do the s&d to ship anything even when you place regular orders: I’m still waiting on stuff from the 15th. Hopefully the new company will do good changes for SK.

What?! Haha!

What I can see in the last photo looks bad so return to it.

They have offered returns on the wrenches I’ve received so far, but as I was able to polish them up sufficiently I declined. Still think I’m unreasonable and crazy?

I don’t care if you keep the wrenches or not but I supported returning them and it is crazy to suggest I’d want you to keep them. I definitely never said you should polish them with a Dremel. I did wipe the filth off a Carlyle ratchet but I wouldn’t waste my time polishing tools.

Throughout this topic you twisted what I and others said and were combative. You keep claiming people are defending SK when they aren’t.

And you’ve changed the narrative many times in this topic when it suits you.

Still no word... I’ve even reached out on Instagram and all that now, too, since folks keep saying they actually respond quickly there?!?

I doubt they are open on Sunday.

I don’t expect a response from them on there until tomorrow.

And you got all combative when I talked about the unprecedented circumstances but later you confirm some of what had been said.

To all those that keep acting like this should all be ok, poor SK just having a hard time, should just call (even though they say to email and have told many to contact via social media), etc……… y’all need to raise your standards. Or just shut up and take that ignorance elsewhere.

You copy and pasted the same text at least 3 times, not 2. I read the same text in at least 3 topics around the same time and then I posted a message.

I didn’t “flood the forum” (dramatic much? Lol) by copying the same text all over. I wrote a comment on this (my) thread and copied it to one other.

Maybe you were done or maybe you had intended to continue but stopped because of my message. I don’t know if there were more than 3.

The fact that everyone is having different experiences with the ratchets is very telling.

All three of mine are garbage. I’m not rebuilding and tweaking a brand new premium (lol) ratchet. I am approaching 100 ratchets. Bit obsessed haha. My Tektons see FAR more use than any other rather. Followed by Carlyle comfort grip when it’s really cold. And a snapon f80 when I need a semi short 3/8.

These SK are ****. The ones I have anyway. I need to post a better video.

So, 4 warranty claims over last two weeks. The SK about 4 days before the others. Filed with SK, Gearwrench, Channellock, and Irwin.

Haven’t heard a word from SK. Channellock acknowledged receipt and that it was being reviewed. Heard nothing since (week or so). Already have my Gearwrench replacement. Irwin replacement coming in today. Oh, and an old out of production Matco 3/8 finally but the dust so the tool truck is seeing what my options are and has been very responsive.

SK still hasn’t shipped my order from couple weeks ago either.

Y’all can defend them all you like. Very sad to see an American company really screwing up, and it’s things that should be EASILY remedied. Just a little CS goes a long way. And don’t start telling me to call. Learned long ago if it isn’t in writing it didn’t happen. And I’m not interested in a rebuild kit. I don’t want them anymore and don’t even feel right giving these away they are so bad.

Here is a comment I made on my post regarding the new lp90’s. Bought fixed head in all 3 drive sizes. Every one has significant issues. Like, they are horrible. Disassembled, degreased and relubed. So it’s smoother now as it try’s to lock up and bind. Didn’t do a thing for the excessive back drag one one, the anvil that shakes around like a baby rattler on one, and the one that has such little spring tension the selector switch will barely stay put. And yet it STILL has really bad back
Drag. I have sent 3 emails. As my last order over 2
Weeks just says processing. Can’t even get sn update.
