In an attempt to get more info and see who is advertising the new ratchets and at what price, I came across two other teardrops that clearly showed the SK name. I was under the impression that SK had never made a teardrop/pear before. One was on Amazon.uk (not available) and really was teardrop shape. The other one had a shuttle bar behind the head like some of those cheap import offset, reversible box wrenches. They were both really teardrop and not like the new oval head. Anybody know anything about them?

I have more ratchets than I know what to do with. That said, I think I'll pick up the 3/8 and 1/4 versions.
I just checked the HJE website and they don't have them listed. I'll see if I can get work to get me through Kansas City in a few weeks so that I can see them before I buy.
It looks like SK has listened to their customers, and is here to stay

The pre ideal SK sold a danaher made 36 tooth pear head ratchet in the early 1990's in 1/4, 3/8, & 1/2 drive. It was nothing to write home about but, it gave SK a pear head ratchet in their line up.

I purchased the flex round head 1/4" drive ratchet earlier today. I have the 3/8" version and use it everyday, but I might have held off to give this new one a shot. Not lamenting it, just would've waited a month to see if they're going to deliver it soon.

Those saying SK has the knurling perfect- I agree. I sold a 1/4 Proto a few years ago because it grabbed too much; skin or glove.
After all this waiting, I'm not disappointed- this just reaffirms my favor for the original SK design.

I just spoke to their customer service, she said the ratchets should be available to the public in the next 2 weeks. I was also checking on an email for the "SK Club" which has a $50 paid option that gives you a "free" socket every month. She said you can pick from a list of 170.

Just wanted to post the original design for reference for everyone.
Props to SK for revising the design.
The new selector looks way nicer. The green looked gimicky and the new version looks more understated and less likely to lose color when scratched/sliding around the toolbox.
The handle design ...proof will be in the pudding on how it works once you hold it. I like the idea of the hybrid knurling and that they didnt use a super skinny handle.
They lost the stamping and USA...

I like both, but really like that look better.
The lever is a nice touch. And the stamp around the handle. I'm sure if the green ever scratched though, guys would dump them off on Ebay real cheap.

The production version will say USA. Basically SK has said if the tool says SK on it. It will be USA made. That's why I have given any new hand tool purchases to SK. Besides the closeout Craftsman pliers. Which are Pretty much SK any way.
Interesting. Curious to see what the final version will be.
In regards to the no USA stamp...also missing are the part numbers from the stock photo. I imagine on the actual product they will be stamped USA along with the part number somewhere on the handle. I wouldn't get worried yet. The handle does look awful skinny.Not sure how comfortable that will be.
