New Slab!

Hello GJ Pro's,

Been lurking here awhile and this place is awesome. I had a 5" slab poured today for a 40x50 metal building, weather was perfect and all appears to have gone well. The contractor elected to treat it with a curing/sealing material (guessing to help it cure). He advised me that it wasn't necessary to wet it down (we're in a drought) due to the treatment. Is it still possible to add a densifier or a sealer to help with dusting and overall longevity of the slab? Hoping someone has a product that can be applied without having to grind a new pad. I would not put any additional sealers down for 30 days. The products your contractor put down are formulated to enhance the cure which includes letting some moisture out as the concrete cures.

Post cure there are a number of concrete sealers, we used a acrylic, that can be rolled on or applied using a yard sprayer.

This is a great forum and I have a couple of suggestions to enhance your membership.

First, put your location in your profile. It will help other posters relate to your project and if you ask for some advice the answers you get will be appropriate for your local.

Second, if you start taking pictures of your project open up a new thread in the Garage Gallery and post them there. Sort of like a blog for your project.

The forum has an intro page. You are not required to make a post there but it helps the other members relate to you.

One more question: So basically as long as I stay away from an epoxy based sealer and wait at least 30 days I should be ok with applying another coat over the original seal/curing treatment? Anyone have any good ideas which brand to go with?

Alright flooring pro's I have another question. The GC poured my slab last Monday and used WR Meadows 1100 clear curing to slow the hydration process. After reading about the product, am I to believe that after 30 days or so the product will have dissolved due to the UV rays? If this is the case, will the surface accept a new sealer such as HD 6525 or VOX 25?

Sorry I haven't filled you in on my soon to be shop build. It will be a 40x50 CBC metal building with 15'6" eaves, 3:12 pitch, 5 windows, 2 man doors, two roll-up doors, with insulation and ridge vent, gutters and downspouts. Construction is set to begin in a few weeks at which time I will post pic's.

Alright folks I'm resurrecting this thread because my new slab will soon be 30 days old! The building should be started soon and I am close to making a decision on what to apply to my concrete floor. The contractor applied this: WR Meadows 1100 clear cure n seal the day of the pour, the slab looks great. Can someone Google this product and tell me what will work? The slab was power troweled too. I'd really prefer a non-slip surface with no fancy colors either, maybe clear or grey? Additionally, I'd like to sweep and maybe pressure wash for prep. Nothing more as my days are long enough as it is. Rust Bullet, HD 40 MMA, SPGX, etc. ?? 2000 sq. ft shop

Sand it or strip it. It has to go.
Nohr-S Polyurea, HD6600MMA, both good choices.

Since a cure and seal was used you should mechanically prep the floor with a Diamabrush you. An rent at Home Depot or a floor grinder. This will assure good adhesion due to the sealer use.

Test the floor first using the clear plastic test since 30 days is the minimum and some slabs can take much longer depending on environmental conditions.

SPGX would be an excellent low-cost solution and very easy to apply and super moisture tolerant since you noted to have some type of moisture problem.

Looks like the floor will just stay as it is then...oh well it doesn't look bad and will definitely hold up well past the point for what I will use it for. Thanks for the replies
