Yeah i found someone who dropped out of an automotive college program that had the same required tools list as me. So it wouldve cost me about 3500 new with my student discount so i bought these. And most of the tools were still in their original package so it diddnt matter to me either way.

Nice buy! I remember those old school days and my starter set. 1984. Looked a lot like that but handles where hard black plastic. Still have some of it but traded in those black handles for the orange ones.

I have two of that style. One of them was my grandfather's. I like them because of the handle that spins in the middle. The newer ones don't have the second handle.

Yeah thats my dads double not sure if there from the same era though.
Also im picking up a 3/8 torque wrench, 24 inch pry bar and brake tools. Im also thinking of picking up a set of the metric and standard swivel ratcheting wrenches since i have the student discount anyway. Those really came in handy back at my high school shop class.

Nice deal. Where are you going to school, and what type of program?

Get the prybar set. Having the smaller ones prevents some screwdriver abuse:lol_hitti

You'll probably need more ratchets.

Also if this is a required set why do they make you buy impact sockets but not an impact gun:headscrat

I'm just curious, what kind of school the seller went to? why the student "have to" buy all these tools. we have a required tool list but it's just a list for the students, buy whatever you want and can afford the school provides the rest. lot of the students buy HF hand tools just to use at school, if they got lost, it doesn't hurt much. Snap On tools tend to grow legs on their own.

The school provides the air tools i think.

We have to lock our box to the wall at school so i figured id go all out to protect it lol.
First i put a heavy chain on the handle.

Then i was worried someone could just undo the allen head bolts on the handle so i ran 3/8 galvanised cable through the holes in the wheels that way its immobile unless you have bolt cutters.

I think my tools should be safe now.

Don't count on it. A lot of guys have their own tools that could cut right through that chain and cable.

I'd get a plastic coated cable and go around the box and lock it so the drawers can't be opened. The tumbler lock can be twisted open with a pair of vise grips pretty quick.
