I have wondered that too.

When i removed some drawers i noticed the drawer runners have china stamped on them....... Something they don't tell you on the website or catalogue or sales flyers. None of my own box's have made in America written on them.

I pulled out some drawers on my KRL and the sliders are stamped Snap On USA. This box is a couple of years old so I don't know if things have changed, but the EPIQ/KRL are their top of the line. The cheaper lines of boxes may very well be made differently.

I'd love to see some pictures first to verify, but 20% off is not enough off for me for that sort of defect.

If the OP got 3 in a row like that, that really speaks poorly to Snap On's quality control. Especially on such a big ticket item.

Is SO UK the same corporate entoty as SO USA?

WalMart Mexico is -affiliated- with the US version but not exactly the same entity. So differences will be seen in products and how the store/chain is managed here to accomodate Mexican law.

It is intended to be the same shopping experience either place and looks about the same too.

I am thinking that the UK version is making its own rules some and is not bound to what the US market is promised. If they source tools and boxes from China it is in no way violating a sacred trust or any laws.
Just breaking with an expected tradition the consumer has come to expect.

I just seen a video on YouTube on snap ons own channel that they paint the inside of thier boxes to prevent corrosion unlike others and it had shown the inside painted same as outside.

They must get behind and the jack *** painting or powder coating them is saying screw it, just check out the videos on snap ons making thier boxes there is several.

I would not take a box unpainted or coated on the inside 20% off for only 50% of paint screw that.

Even my cheap $350 HF tool boxes is beautifully painted on the inside I checked it and made sure after someone complained about thier snap on box awhile back.

You just didn't get mean and nasty enough with corporate trust me you start flipping out they will do what it takes to make you happy, if they send me the wrong tool by mistake you bet I'm getting to keep it and get the right one too for having to wait, I have had this got the 24" 1/2 soft grip ratchet for free and a 3/8 matching flex that had half the head ground off.

Have had many problems with snap on especially with buying off the website. Out of all the hands the tools pass through I can't see how the stuff gets by,

I still love snappy they will bend over backwards for you, you just have to speak your mind and stand up grow a pair it wouldn't have happened to me after the first time and I Damn sure wouldn't have kept the Damn thing 1-2-3 times.

^ all good points, inside should be painted no excuses and 20% discount is not enough by long shot. He also had exterior defect on one unit which no way I would keep.
50% off and I could probably paint insides myself but bad exterior unit/panel would need swapping over.
What you got realize is Snapon products and customer service not all the same outside usa so buyer needs be aware of this and on the ball before buying the stuff as prices can actually be higher and for less product quality and poorer customer service and future warranty .
