Has anyone tried the new snap-on branded lock-a-socket rails. I saw them in the dads and grads flyer the other day and liked them until I saw the price. At $45 each they are a little out of my budget at the moment. Maybe I will wait for MTS to release them without the snap-on logo for half the price. Just curious if anyone has seen or used the new ones with the hi-viz size marking on them and what is their thoughts.

Mechanics Time Saver makes twist lock socket rails. These maybe rebranded.

If you're looking for quality socket rails, I highly recommend VIM mag rails. Pardon my french but...they are the ******* ****. :rocker:

Gedore has some nice ones too. American-made. Similar to Torin (the socket holders interchange) but extruded metal rather than plastic. Gedore also typically includes a couple square ratchet holders as well.

Surprised to see a Gedore product made in the USA. Assume they are rebranding them from another manufacturer.

Me too. I asked about them on the Old World thread about a month ago, because I wanted some additional holders. I was directed here:

I do not know if those are metal or plastic.

I ended up buying a Torin rail for less than the extra socket holders from MTS. The rail itself was plastic, and the socket holders are stamped slightly differently. But otherwise they look and function the same.

$59 for one single socket rail, you people are NUTS!

Is this more reasonable? :)

I paid more for the 1/2” drive one, but that was years ago.

They are also available as Craftsman. I have a couple of aluminum Craftsman 1/2" rails. There are a couple of versions, plastic rails with a rubber back and aluminum rails with a magnet back. The Sears 1/2" is a little shorter than the MTS but you can often get a deal much better than the MTS price. They all use the same posts. I forget who is also aelling the MTS plastic rails. Now for the bad part. They don't work with all sockets. If the detent is too far in, the post won't rotate and lock. Even MTS says " works with most sockets". I ran into that problem with some of my sockets. If your sockets fit they are great.

I have the MTS lock a socket, love them, just bought two 1/2 18" rails last week for about 15 bucks. They are aluminum and have a magnetic strip on the bottom.

The new snap-on branded socket rails have the sizes marked on the post for easy identification.
