ah, what you have there is what we call the, "cheek cutter" at the shop. Homeboy borrowed the 32oz one and you know, like a borrowed car, he went all Thor on a hardened pin and a small part of the pin broke off. The metal shard flew onto his cheek and made a small cut. I don't know why, but seems like cheeks are made of bags of blood. It was flowing hard ahahha
So nowadays, the green 32oz SnapOn ball peen is know through out the realm of the shop as the, corta cachetes, (cheek cutter in Spanish)

Why I buy a $112 hammer.

I make money with my tools, I just want the best, I have broken more sears tools than I want to think about, the tool truck shows up once a week and is just a phone call away any other time, sears you have to drive to the store and hope they have the tools you broke. That's why I buy a $112 hammer.

They really shine in an oily environment. Unlike wooden handle hammers that soak up oils these are solvent and oil resistant which is good because mine stay dripping wet in oil, ATF and parts washing solvent that would quickly swell, rot and fragment wooden handle hammers. I hate picking wood chips out of a trans I'm building. I get em soaked doing a tear down or assembly then chuck them in the parts washer, rinse and repeat.

I bought most of mine almost 20 years ago and they've been a solid investment saving me money and trouble in the long run. Remember, it's a hammer with a lifetime warranty.

The last two responses are exactly why I got it. I used that baby hammer every day for the last 6 months. The head is already trying to escape and I don't want to drive to Sears for another 6 month hammer. Also As a pro I need pro tools

Think of all the children in Uganda you could support if you bought a $12 dollar hammer and sent the other $100 to them. You would be employing people in China so they could feed there families as well! A liberal utopia for all!

And you wonder why they call us ugly Americans!

Does snapon actually make them or is it another ODM? I cant imagine getting to the point where I could justify that coin on a hammer. Cman nowadays, no. But a hammer? When I can just go get 2 estwings for that price or a set from trusty hammers. I guess its all use dependent. If I worked in a shop and it was my day to day job to use those tools then yes. Id pay for the convience. Nice tool BTW ;P

Had I purchased my $112 hammer 15 years ago when I bought my first of many different ball peen hammers I would be money ahead now. This is why I now use this logic when buying tools today, I'm done buying disposable tools.

Like another thread I seen earlier about gear wrench ratchets all needing a $10 Armstrong rebuild kit. Guy had like 20 of those ratchets in a drawer, his dollar investment in ratchets was probably more than I have in a few Dual 80's that last forever.

Awesome hammer. Enjoy pounding on stuff. That's definitely my go to hammer, but there's a Snap-on dead blow hammer for almost every job needing pounding

The S.O. hammers are good, the dead blow feature is nice, but for me they are just too weak. I have broken two of the 40oz versions and one 16oz. Yes the warranty is worth paying for, I was given a new hammer whenever one broke. So now I have two new hammers sitting in the bottom of my box.

I now have a green 16oz matco hammer that looks like a trusty cook type, it has held up for 4 weeks so far. For my big hammer this is my go to (http://estwing.com/s_drilling_hammer.php the 2lb one) there is no destroying this.

I bought the 16 oz version off CL along with a set of Cornwell impacts for $125. I love it. Time to get a bigger one.

Got one as well.
Looks rusty, but just means i had a light week.
They're great hammers, cringe when i see the price, but worth it.

I have the 16 oz and 32 oz ball peen dead blow hammers from snap on and love them. Just wish I could find the 40 oz in green.

I have an older 40oz snap on dead blow ball peen hammer. I used it for years and it was great but it ended up cracking. Its the orange version from like 2001 ish. I still need to warranty it.

Holy cow! Breaking 2 40oz dead blows? What were you working on at the time they broke? Did you have shot all over the floor with those breaks? I've yet to break a dead blow or knock the head off a composite handle hammer. Wood handle hammers? I can't tell you how many I've had that went flying off while pounding away at something.
