I am usually a negative person, so here's some good news for a change!

We got a new Snap-on guy a few weeks back and I've made a lot of purchases. Some stuff at full price but mostly promo, BOGO, 15% off, 50% off, etc. Two of those things were a soft handled ratchet and a soft handled breaker bar. Intending to do the ever popular old school hard handle swap, I had him order in some orange kool-aid hard handles.

When it came time to pay for them:
"Oh don't worry about it, just give me your old soft handles when you get them off and I'll warranty these for you."

Free orange hard handles!:eyecrazy::rocker:

Hmm-does the SO dealer pay for those, or does he get the company to pay for them?

Yeah, and I only had to wait twenty years!:lol: My bestest guy is Mac but I'm just not a major Mac fan.

I get the impression that S-o isn't hesitating to warranty anything this guy wants: the reps that have attended him on his visits have warrantied ANYTHING. This includes stuff that a previous guy wouldn't touch.

These guys have bent over backwards to take care of us, I think they realize(in fact they told me) that they know they have gotten a bad reputation from the previous guys on that route. They are doing anything they can to make folks happy and take care of us ("No, don't buy that yet, it goes on promo next week for 15% off."). The rep was even playing Build Your Own BOGO for me when the deal had a socket set I didn't really want. And my buddy got a BOGO where neither the socket set NOR the ratchet were on promo.:drool:

Why would so warranty perfectly good handles? Maybe he'll just cover the cost and swap it out.

My guess is that the hard handle vs soft handle replacement handles have similar cost. So the dealer will keep the soft handles he gets back and use them for warranty on other customers ratchets and send the bad soft handles he get out for warranty to get his account credited. Alittle more work, but happy customers in the end.

We had a interim Snap-On corporate guy who came to our route; after the one dealer got out of the business. He said there was a trend to make snap-on "dealers" corporate and get away from the private guys; I don't know if this is true but I wonder if the quality of service would be better? I don't know but food for thought; he said that this particular route was supposedly going to be change to a corporate one. This guy was the BEST dealer I have EVER dealt with; I told him I had so much warranty stuff it was almost embarrassing. He related the same issue as the other poster above; the whole town had been poorly serviced or not service at all for years. He replaced a TON of stuff for me; including things the previous dealer lied to me and told me that didn't have a warranty. Needless to say he bent over backwards and got things done; also gave me credit for duplicate tools that got warranted and I got other things I needed, ended up having credit towards other things. He got a little tired of me at the end; I definitely got thing swapped that I had neglected for years.. based upon the attitude of the old dealers in the area. He did tell me to do all the warranty when he was around; which was for a number of months before the new guy came in. The new guy; did a 180 and refused warranty and basically had no after sale customer service or sales skills. Its not rocket science; service your customers, be friendly, helpful and get people what they want! I know being successful requires allot more on the financial end for the dealers but those are the basics of what the customer needs from a dealer. Cheers to the good dealers! Glad you have one; I wish new guy was! :)

That's freaking cool. I never win anything.....but I keep on trying. Congrats

Never give up! This is the first time for me and it's about time too. Almost threw the tickets away when I cleaned out the wallet this weekend, thought the drawing was over!

ETA: If you saw my reciepts from the last two months you'd see this wasn't quite "free", lol.
I'm still really happy though. It's like twenty years worth of good things finally happening.
