I asked my snap on guy today what the story was on the new dual 80's not having USA stamp on them. Even the new 100 tooth round head ratchet doesn't have it. He said it's because the dual pawl setup isn't made in USA and because every piece wasn't made here they can't put the USA stamp on the tool. Anyone heard the same?

I have heard the same, went to the dealer convention in Orlando this past year and TALKED to the guys that build them on the line. They all swore that the parts were 100% USA made and they had NO IDEA why some upper management type wanted to remove it. They were not happy about it either by the way, they are proud to be making Snap-on tools.

I still think they are insulating us from seeing that on their tools to eventually move production overseas but that has not happened at this point in time.

I noticed this a while back, I have a dual 80 3/8 flex head and it is stamped usa on it, and a few months after I bought another and it did not have a usa stamp on it. I asked my dealer and he didnt know what the deal was, but he doesnt seem to know anythingso whatever. I even noticed that the scripture on the ratchet didnt look as good as the usa stamped one. Even some of my new pliers arent stamped usa anymore, so I wouldnt be surprised if the stuff isnt made here anymore.

Is there anything you know for sure mrshaun about tool production or snap on using overseas parts? I've spent alot of money over the years on snap on tools and I take alot of pride in them. This just really disappoints me.

What he said ^^^^^, it's very disappointing especially at the prices Snapon charges.

i talk to the poduct manager every other week or so and he has assured me that there are no foreign parts in the ratchets. georgiahybrid summed it up. someone made a decision to remove it and would not say why, the ratchets were due to be put in a package and that would say usa on it, but that never happened.

Once again, 30 seconds of footage of the pawls being manufactured would end the discussion. Snap-on aren't usually so shy.

Looks like taking off the USA stamp is just foreplay for now ...

Are they doing this ( taking off USA stamp ) with other Snap On products?

a couple of items here and there. one concern was that since we are a world wide corporation, some countries may not like seeing USA> I guess Islamic extremists would have to blow them selves up if they used something that said MADE IN USA on it.

I don't see the problem.....

I just warrantied a 830 for a new F80. Like the new ratchet a lot but wish it did say USA on it.

My dad, who is a mac dealer, said that his uncle said that his cousin's wife, who was adobted from china, said she has a cousin that works in a ratchet making factory in china, who says that the Snap On Dual 80's and the Duralast knock off's are made in that same factory. He said that he make them both on a daily basis. Idk know 100% if this is legit, am just passing the word on. BTW I am a Cronwell dealer and work at Sears part-time to help pay bills.

I know, i shouldn't be trolling, I just had to try and be cool i guess. lol

To be honest I wish I knew if there were made in the USA, but I don't care because I like the cool aid. Seriously if I like a product and it works well, I don't care who made it and or where it was made. Just that I can get more to help my addiction problem.

The SO site is clear on COO for the products they sell. I don't think they are fiddling around with this ... are they? If the Dual 80 is not USA made then looks like they are. I could be wrong on this.

Since they are made in the USA from the SO site, I would hope they read this and fire the person who made the call to remove "USA" from the tools, as for a premium price I want proof I am helping this county I call home with USA on the tools.

No, see that COO is a lie as well. See they want to claim the "better" area of Asia but they're really made in China?!?! Cause it's cheap?!?:headscrat
So just to be clear it was your uncle's uncle's cousin's wife's cousin that said it?

Something like that, but really the relationship status of family members have been change for their protection. i promised I would never tell.

They are removing it from other tools as well. I bought a new MG325 and then couldn't resist the pretty little green ones that came out. Traded up and the new green one does not have made in the USA on it. The old one did. The new regular looking red ones still do have the notice.

I happen to know a guy that works at that factory and they are coming from the same line but the housings are finished differently (smooth vs. pebbled). One is marked as being made here, the other is not. Go figure....

well, whoever makes them does a great job at it!!! I made the mistake of buying an FH80 a few months ago to see what all the fuss was about.....now I have the whole family of 3/8 comfort grip dual 80's and am about to pull the trigger on a 1/2" SHL80 and start that part of the family. The friggin' things are one expensive addiction!! Damn you Snap-On and your chrome goodness!!!!

They have removed usa from there pliers.
really? just bought a set (PLR300 I think) a few weeks ago and they all say Made In USA on them.....i must have gotten some older stock I guess.
