New snap on hammers

well i took some of you guys advice on the snap on hammers and i got them today to start with i figure a 36oz ballpine hammer and a 24oz deadblow for small things also came with the free bbq

I bought both the 32 and 16. I use the 16 at least 90% of the time. It's easier to control and still gets the job done. I use it to free ball joints, use with punches, anything really! Everyone should have one in their box.

Thanks. I usually use a piece of brass and a regular ball peen for these purposes. I think I will pick up the Matco set. I get the Tech Ed discount so they are $105 from $150

Does anyone else have one of these hammers where the head unthreads its self? I have had problems only recently with the Mac ones and my SO 40oz version have unthread at the flat end. Also my 40 oz Snap-On moves back and forth in the head every time I use the ball end and it makes me wonder if that's normal. I would not have said this 6 months ago but I think the trusty cook versions are far superior to any other. They have given me flawless performance but they don't have a lifetime warranty.

You are correct. Matco offers a limited warranty on the Trusty Cook hammers. Only Mac and SO are lifetime. I think the Trusty Cook is made the best though in my opinion.

What do you mean moves back and forth? The ends are threaded on, and the center section is welded to the handle. Sounds like a possibly good reason for warranty.

When i hit something with the hammer the head slides back and forth if i switch sides about an 1/8 of an inch. it leaves a gap between the metal and plastic On the head. I am going to warranty it now. i was curious if it was a normal problem. This is the second one I have had to warranty.
