Hey guys I’m new, just been lurking on the sidelines for a few months. I’ve seen that a lot of people on here really like the snap on ratchets and the locking flex head Matco ratchets. I’ve seen a few videos of this new design come out (picture below), but I can’t find it anywhere on the website or from my local dealer. Does anyone have a part number on this or know anything about it?

FLLX80 = chrome handle
FHLLX80G = green comfort grip
FHLLX80R = red comfort grip

Those are the part numbers I know about. I have seen pictures and ebay listings of the same ratchets with gray, orange, and hi-viz comfort grips as well, but I don't know the individual part numbers for those handle colors.

This is the best video I've seen, showing how the mechanism works and how there's now more tooth engagement when the head is locked (less likely to become damaged or strip out over time).

Lastly, welcome to GJ!

Ive only seen them in LONG, thats what I have.
I wonder if they’ll come out with different drives. I was looking at the snap on locking flex heads, but don’t love them. I’m at the end of my student discount and want to get a few things. I’m in manufacturing engineering not automotive. I’d just use them for personal projects.

I think $270. I don't like Snap-On slide button style. Its probably for me the worst design. I'm always knocking it locked. I think Matco / Armstrong Maxx has the best design but it's not very smooth locking mechanism. I find anything with a push button isn't happening for me, but still better than SO.

I have one w/o the grip, it is built like a tank for a 3/8" drive ratchet. The locking mechanism works well, and it can be used in the locked and unlocked positions. I'm hoping they come out with it in 1/4" and 1/2" drives and in a shorter handled version. I'm pretty sure they'll run with the new design in other sizes and configurations.

I ended up buying one of each style. I got the push button one, and everyone is right, it’s pretty annoying. I like my icon roto head way more. Luckily I got it half off with my student discount. I just picked up the new locking one and this huge half inch one on Facebook marketplace. The guy had used them once. I paid 225 for both. I don’t think I did to bad haha.

Welcome to the group!

It's clever how Snap-On was able to pull that off without moving the pivot "down-the handle". I'm all Matco'd up in 3/8", but I do have the older style locking mech on the giant 1/2" ratchet. It's not so bad on that one.

What I love about Snap-On is that you can buy a rebuild kit for like $10. Cheap enough to keep on hand. Swap the guts and press on. Nice ratchets.

I see some sellers selling a good amount on eBay. I see none/sold out on Snap-on's site. Did these guys just basically buy em out ASAP and are reselling them? Would like to buy one, but how reliable are these sellers?
