Sorry it took a while to follow up. No I'm not a troll or just trying to stir things up. Malco has stock of both 10", 7", and 11" clamps. However, at this time they are not making any new production.

There is a big difference between completing a production run and discontinuing production.
Many have asked, and remains unanswered, what is the source of this info?

Employees of Malco's EagleGrip plant. I live 20 miles grom Dewitt and know many of the people who work there. As of September 20, 2022 there are no EagleGrips being produced. There will be no more EagleGrips produced the way they have been to this point. Management from Minnesota said they are looking into a 2nd design that they hopefully could drastically reduce the end cost. The plant will continue with their other work as normal. It is not closing the doors.

What other tools are manufactured at the Dewitt plant?

biggest issue with eagle grips was lack of grip style range (even at future plan media info level) and lack of large scale modern media information and marketing, no idea why lot of these companies don't push more distribution partnerships in europe region (AP a oood example of products that do really well in europe market).
Is a market for it but it got be global and it got be an all in effort on product range and marketing/distribution partnerships .
4 pliers and 2 clamps is not a great range and media buzz and marketing is even more minimal .
Really want see them be a main plier manufacturer and stay in business but it looking like a weak effort currently ...

Still hearsay, but believable hearsay. If the original vise grips made in the exact same plant with old equipment could sell for $10 why do new Vise Grips made with the most modern machines Malco could source cost $50. Fedwrench and I both agreed that no way could this sales model work. Two out of 100 people 1) care where something is made personally I don't 2) are willing to pay 5X for something that does the same thing as a pair costing 1/5th as much. The Eagle Grips are a work of art which sadly weld spatter is going to screw up just as easily as it does an $8 pair of Harbor Freight Brenen's. As the saying goes: "WHAT WERE THEY THINKING?" If "Made in America" is going to cost 5X as much there isn't going to be a damn thing made in America. Malco makes great Aviation Snips as does Midwest Snips and their stuff cost about 1.5 to 2X the imported stuff. I'll pay that. 5X NO.

I could see how they would stop production for a while. Using the same process that killed the plant in the first place isn't going to work. The classic old machinist reason doing anything is "that's the way we always have done it" and it can kill business.

They have been making these for well over a year now.
They are only offering 7s and 10s in curved and straight and one size c-clamp, with a swivel pad option. Thats it.
Its very possible they completed their initial run to fully stock their distributors and warehouse and when V2 starts up, they will implement some cost cutting revisions.
I mean, in reality, how many $50 visegrips are they actually moving vs manufacturing?
Production would have to pause eventually.
Nothing really surprising.

unfortunately not much chance of that, Malco seem clueless, producing hundreds of thousands of just the common type/size was not way to go.
Broad model range and some innovation was needed.
Quite sad to think usa can't even run a locking pliers factory effectively :-(

If only Malco would get these locking pliers in some brick and mortar stores. I know you can get them off the snappy truck but not everyone climbs on the snappy truck. Their marketing seems twisted @ best. Just my worthless 2 cents.

Apparently Malco had made 7” and 10” slim jaw pliers (possibly for a later release?) similar to the Snap-on we discussed earlier in this thread.
They were never added to the Eagle Grip website from what I’ve seen.
I havent heard these mentioned anywhere on GJ, and just noticed them today myself.
There are active listings on Amazon, eBay, and USAToolDepot. Zoro lists them, but OOS.
Snap-on sells the Grip-on 5” and 7” version of these, but this is the only 10” version I have ever seen.

Might have to get those ...
shame Malco didn't get other models out into resale sooner as lack of range was as much an issue as pricing .
I already got 10" usa slims but it diy effort on some old Petersen 10CR for backing drop link removal with the air wrench .

Damn, I have the Snap On slims, but the Malcos would be even better. Gonna have to grab some, I'll just try to take care of them better than the Snap Ons....hahaha!

Just bought the 10" version. THANK YOU for posting these.

The snap on version, grip on, doesn't have the strongest teeth ever. Yes I can warranty them, and have, but for mission critical stuff I gotta have these.

How many consumers would be willing to pay $40 to $50 for a pair of locking pliers at HD, Lowes, or Menards? The vast majority of consumers will see the imports for less than half the price and buy those instead. Heck, Menards sells a set of three for half the price of what an Eagle Grip costs. I bought an Eagle Grip locking pliers, but I am not your typical locking pliers customer. I also have the HF Bremen locking pliers that also work quite well.

I pulled the trigger on them too.
I have plenty of standard grip options from other makes but these are one of a kind, and as its looking now, will likely be gone once sold out.
Id love to know the story behind their inception.
These would have fit in Snap-on's offerings well.

Im still hopeful another buyer will keep the Eagle alive, with reasonable cost margins.

I would guess the inception on the slim jaws was it easy design to do using existing tooling (small range they got all based around 7 & 10" with as much component sharing as possible) and also slim jaws been taken by snapon to replace the gripon slim jaw .
I been grinding petersens slim for years as the soft gripons/snapons would let you down .
I done order on Malcos, is a one chance option unless someone takes over the plant and that also looking slim :-/
Malco's 2 problems was price bit too high and no range, didn't even make any hype about future locking pliers products ...

How do you like the Eaglegrips other than the price point?

Since reader2580 mentioned Lowe's. Avoid Kobalt brand locking pliers. They break easily for me. Just my limited experience.

Malco just put out new Youtube videos about Eagle Grips today so I'm guessing they are in this for the long haul and JDTco. has plenty in stock and sell a lot and order them all the time just ask them
On their website:
Our limited remaining inventory of pliers and clamps will be available for purchase until sold out. We will continue to honor our limited lifetime warranty for manufacturing and materials defects of Eagle Grip products in perpetuity. If we do not have a replacement product in stock, we will issue a credit to the customer.

WHAT WILL YOU DO WITH THE PLANT IN DEWITT?
We are exploring all available opportunities to determine the best possible outcome for all stakeholders at our DeWitt facility.

They are without a doubt the best locking pliers I have ever used in 45 plus years well worth the money, can't believe they are quitting so fast as excellent tool just poor marketing to me.

People.need to just man up and buy them. I don't care what they cost now, these pliers WORK. No slip,no BS, the job gets done.

i second this opinion. i have clamped them on to rusted sway bar end links, impacted the nuts to the point where its smoking and glowing red and these pliers just dont slip. its the reason why i picked up another set of the straight and curved pliers in 8 and 10 inches when i heard they were going away

Thanks Knurled.....the 10s head is about the same size as the SO slim 7s, but the handle/clamping part are MUCH beefier. Think I'm gonna get another set, these are going to be GREAT for those damn sway bar ends.
Wish Malco had stuck with it, needlenose version would have been sweet!

Anyone notice where their Malco slims shipped from? Mine departed from Kenosha, WI. Probably coincidence, but kinda ironic...

Looks like I'm a year late on these... if anyone has a pair of the 7" or 10" slim that they would be willing to part with, please send me a message. I'd pay a premium for some NOS with hang tags.
