Here is a snapshot of the new pearl blue tools offered by Snap On. Taken at the 2018 SO convention yesterday.

I know at the very least I'm buying the pick set. Maybe the pry bars. Not sure why they didn't go with the OG style handles for them though

I have a 3/8 ratchet with a hard handle in that colour, never knew it was anything new to the brand.

Its just an off blue now with dirt.

I texted my dealer yesterday "Don't come home without that mini pick set.":lol_hitti

I'm waiting on prices for the pry bars, ratchets, and hammers. I'm a hard handle *****, and Pearl Blue is probably my favorite color.

Looks like Channellocks.

Check the images in post #3 by yjwrangler. The blues look quite a bit different from Channellock blue there. The pearlescent effect is noticeable in person -- they've had this color for a while, as noted by Tonyuk, although it appears they're making a bigger push right now.

All kidding aside, I like the fact that SO makes different color handles. I can look in my drawer and know that 8" needlenose are red, bent nose are green, linesman are blue, etc. Beats seeing a sea of red handles and rummaging...

Really like those, are the picks available online or only through a dealer? Also do they run the same as a standard SO pick set or more? I was about ready to get a new set anyways...

You took the word right out of my mouth.

My only thought is that when those get scratched and filthy, they're going to be a bear to clean up.

ALl the color chasing with SO is driving me nuts, but I do like the color. Damnit.

These color releases seem to be more for collectors. I'd wager a lot of guys on here wont even rip the cellophane and probably already have those tools in standard colors.

I freely admit I don't understand the fetish for different color hard handles. I suppose having your choice is nice, not having to settle for the sole factory color that you may or may not like.

Most of these additional colors appear to my untrained eye, to be targeted at some future Snap-on tool collecting guide, not as users unless Snap-on deliberately chose colors on their ability to show dirt/grease.

Regardless, there are probably some well-to-do retirees out there doing quick mental math, snapping these HIGHLY COLLECTIBLE, RARE tools up for potential flipping fodder, and the 250% markup will ensure the tools are still on ebay in our children and grandchildrens lifetimes to show them a textbook "time capsule" tool.

I guess when you're a tool powerhouse like Snap-on, there comes a point when your line is pretty full by most standards, so the next focus will be their limited Designer edition wrench and screwdriver sets scheduled for release next year sometime. Famous designer names include Tommy Hilfiger, Coco Chanel, Ralph Lauren, Versace, Calvin Klein, and Louis Vuitton.

Personally, I have no problem with SO offering new handle colors. No skin off my nose...

On the other hand, I wish they would put more effort at redesigning their screwdrivers. SO seems to be pretty leading edge as a tool company yet they still use the old, tired, and senseless slotted tip design that is the winged chisel grind (why any tool co. still makes this design is beyond me). If they would go with cabinet tip hollow grind it would be much more useful (e.g. PB Swiss). Also, knurled shafts on all their screwdrivers (Like they have on their ratcheting screwdriver) would be icing on the cake. And JIS compatible PH tips...

But yeah, the new handle colors are cool I guess.

It also helps with tool control in a multi tech environment when each tech sticks with one color. Falls apart after you have more than 4 techs, but in smaller shops there seems to always be the extreme green guy, the black guy, there red guy, the orange guy, and the oddball color guy and they usually know what's theirs and what isn't.

That's how it was at a shop I worked at in Baltimore years ago. I had red handled snap no. Another guy had black, another green, and other guys were running different brands completely. Same with the power tools until Milwaukee became the best and we all merged to it for battery compatibility on jobsites. We'd just sharpie and paint the tools and batteries to quickly identify ownership.

Bought some tools off a HD mechanic early 2000's. Came with unopened package of Snap-on screwdrivers and a full size awl set. Red handles in the old 80's style. Not sure why he bought them and didn't use them for 15 years.

I am a red and black handle guy, don't care much for orange, green or yellow. This is nothing new for Snap-on in the 90's they offered at least 8 different colors for the hard handles

Just signed this number up to every spammer out there.

Sweet. I love playing with them between the 70-100 phone calls I already get every day (company phone). Had one company signed up and very excited to do a home energy audit that afternoon for me until I asked how they would make it from Phoenix to Seattle in the little amount of time before the appointment. :lol_hitti

(I live in the Seattle area now. They were calling about the home I sold eight months ago)
