Maybe THETOOLMAN can answer that. Will the ratchet work with standard length sockets?

Yes you can use regular sockets. My snap-on guy is offering this set with the missing sockets for free. I of no one else does first i will buy a set and post a full review

Hmmm... that sort of setup would have been handy the other day. Then again, I don't have money, so I'll have to get creative with the tools I already have. ;)

I see limited usage for this due to the shallow socket depths, but hey, it could work for that one time.

Come on, who's not using their air ratchet and impact for everything to begin with???

What irritates me is that I brought this up before in another thread (how much strength is lost if the drive end is shorter) and some guys poo-pooed the idea. Now snap on comes out with one, and I get no credit:confused:

It's different when Snap-on does it..

What sizes are missing?

I see this ratchet being handy even with standard depth sockets, often its just that little bit of clearance that makes a difference. As to the second question I don't but then again I don't work flat rate either.

I would want to compare the short 3/8 ratchet and super short socket combination to a thin 1/4 drive ratchet and socket combination, and a gearwrench with drive adapter, or a gearwrench with those Craftsman wrench sockets attached to see what length is saved. Does anyone know how long is the ratchet and what size sockets are included in the set?

....and compared to tools like this ? which has less height ? the new SO with their sockets, ratcheting wrenches with adaptor or the pass-through ratchets ?

Monte, my dad just bought a set of SO ratcheting wrenches and the Taiwanese-made SO ratcheting wrench adaptor, they're not as thin overall as I expected. Really not enough for me to justify a purchase, and I can justify anything from Snap-On...

My snap-on dealer said a few months ago he had seen this ratchet at a big Snap-On get together in Vegas sometime last year , and we were talking about it about a week ago in his shop, he said that his understanding was that it was for lower torque ranges than for example, an FHLF80. I.E. don't feel free to abuse it like you can the current ones, cause he'll ***** or not warranty it. He did tell me it was thinner than the Matco - I guess it bugs him that the current 80-tooth SOs are thicker, but I use the 1/4" set or a wrench when it gets that cramped so it's not a big deal to me. I'm interested to see if the Matco 88-tooth is going to be in the same skinny little head as the 60-tooth ones available now.
