I use the comfort grip ratchets every day. although I have a few without them for size reasons. I like them a lot and they don't get too cold in the winter, just get dirty and beat up after a while. but my oldest is 2 years old and still in good shape with some scratches

Buy the chrome handle IMO... Soft grip stuff is nice unless you work with anything greasy.

anyone have a idea how much a replacement handle cost ??

11.00 shipped in your choice of colors (red, orange, green).

I disagree with it being bad around grease, in my experience its the exact opposite. Comfort grip gives you better pressure distribution in your hand, doesn't freeze your hand off in the winter for out doors use, and stays grippy even around fluids. I like mine very much.

I get OCD about keeping my tools clean so that's where my dislike for soft grips comes from...

I like the comfort handles. I just ordered an FHF80. Should go well with my thlf72 and fhnf100.

Little simple green keeps the handles clean

I felt the same way but they clean up really rather well at the end of every day with an earth friendly grease cutter/cleaner I use. They just have a couple of small cuts in them. I figured if it gets to the point where it bothers me enough its $11.00 and the ratchet has a brand new handle.

I have the soft handles and really like them for the reasons stated above. I had chrome handles too but I find myself using the softies more often.

I have had 6 or 7 over the last few months and didn't like them enough to keep them over my chrome ones. They are comfortable, but my preference is the chrome over the comfort or hard handle ones.

The question is not which one to buy but rather which one to buy first the new dual 80 ratchets are awesome.

I have both and find myself reaching for the comfort grip more often than not. They both are great ratchets whichever you choose.

I have both. But I like the soft grip because there's more to hang on to. At least on the 1/4 and 3/8 the 1/2 is fine either way. I really like the hard handles and have even thought about changing my soft grip to hard handles :)

I like full chrome, because you can always make your own handle if you want one... With soft- or hard-handles, you're stuck.

I like the comfort grips. when they get worn you can replace them and its like a brand new ratchet. with chrome handles, once they are scratched up and dinged, there is no way to refresh it.

I like chrome. In general I dislike soft grip ratchets, pliers, t-wrenches, and so on. Since I do not buy duplicates and that the larger soft grips may get in the way at some point, I prefer to go chrome. On the other hand, some models are only available with a soft grip and I would not hold that against the tool.

I remember when I got my first snap-on ratchet I wanted a soft grip. My driver had a non soft grip on sale and I haven't looked back since.

Soft grip. Better feel, easier on the hands, easier to handle with greasy/dirty hands. A big thing for me is when you get a little over zealous with your ratcheting speed, I'd rather have the end of a plastic/rubber handle make contact with metal, paint or glass.

When you are ratcheting close to glass and you hear the metal end of your ratchet tap the glass, makes your **** hole pucker a bit. Same on nice paint.

The only chrome flex I have is the stubby craftsman. I prefer the soft grip or hard handles. They give me a better grip. The chrome hurts my little hands sometimes when I really got pull on them.

I have heard that the handle on the soft grips is thinner than the chrome where the grip slides onto. As such, I've heard of peole that have bent a soft grip ratchet and grabbed a hard handle version and it did not bend. Food for thought. On the other hand if you don't use your rats like that, but you like to smack with your hand for an "impacting" action, I imagine the comfort grip would be a better choice for your hands...so I'll turn the question back on YOU and ask what are you doing with it?

I prefer the chrome handles. I have a few comfort grips but I'm not in love with them. I do however like hard handle grips on ratchets. It's a personal preference thing.
