Apparently I screwed up. All I got was the handle (pic next to my TLL72). There are no pictures of what exactly your getting. Silly me, I thought I was buying the entire ratchet. If you type in TLLF72 in the Search on SNAP-ON website you get three options:

1. Handle $70
2. Bucket $25
3. Repair kit $10

So I ordered #1.

So do I need to buy the Bucket?
If so, is everything in the Bucket or need to buy Kit for inner workings as well?

Perhaps you should compare prices of a complete one and the pieces. It may be cheaper to return your handle and use the money towards complete one.

I called their 1-877 number and talked to a guy about it. He said what I was seeking after is not available to the general public until July. He suggested I return the handle and check the website later on. So I sent the handle back USPS for $5, tracking number & signature required.

He also stated the 3/8" version will be out later this year. I asked him if it will be the FLLF80, he didn't know.

So I see at least 2 more ratchet purchases this year.

There are several offerings on Ebay for TLLF72 ratchets. They all supposedly are new, never used from SnapOn

Maybe he meant it's available by special order on the truck, then available on website later? I don't know.

Bought one off the truck today and...it needs to be replaced already. The teeth on mine feel nothing like my regular T72 or F80 ratchets. It's stiff and locks up. Maybe I got a lemon, but I've never really had to "break in" any of my Snap-on ratchets. $114.95 for a Snap-on ratchet and it's clear to me that my (way) cheaper Craftsman feels better when I turn it. Weird. :willy_nil:dunno:

Mine felt the same. Took it apart. Appeared to have a few drops of machine oil inside. Sprayed brake cleaner & dry. Then put Super Lube in. The internals look like the 3/8 except smaller & no W-spring (or whatever it's called). Put it back together and spun it several times in each direction. Still a little stiff but much better tho.

The breaker bar is only $52 so if you want to do a conversion that seems cheaper than buying those long handles...no? The benefit of the ratchet over the bar has to be for (/based on) obstruction use, where you can't reach down with an arm and a smaller ratchet but the slim 10 inch handle will fit OK. Otherwise I think the savings of the breaker bar would make sense, but you would need to tolerate the inconvenience of then using a ratcheting wrench or another (prsumably shorter) ratchet to spin the fastener off. Given this is the case, I'm starting to think a locking feature would be really nice so when you are fishing for that fastener on the end of this thing--presumably dodging obstructions-- you can keep your socket angle true, as a floppy head would really be a PITA.

It ***** because I just laid out and cut foam for my 1/4" ratchets a couple weeks ago. It may not have even fit in the tray I used anyways, but I will be getting one when they come out. The 1/4" hurt my hands, hell they all hurt my hands, so I like the grip. I also like the splash of green I can add to them!

I'll end up doing the same tomorrow when I show up to work. I have AeroKroil in my box, maybe that's all it needs. If it doesn't get any better I'll just get it replaced by my dealer. Otherwise, I love the ratchet. Looks great and I like the amount of leverage the extra long handle affords me at work. I'm an aviation sheet metal mechanic and sometimes I'll spend an entire shift breaking 1/4 inch steel Hi-Lok collars on the cargo door modifications we perform for our clients. Trust me, I can use all the leverage I can get. Would love to see a soft grip version of it to make it even sweeter.

Interesting setup with the trays. Could you show me a little more detail?

My dealer said he couldn't order any because they were regional right now. This is the first I am hearing of a long flex head 3/8 ratchet from Snap On. I bought a Mac XR1890FPA and honestly dont think I would trade it in for the Snap On.

Red, the trays are just plastic trays that I was going to toss out. I happened to set them on each other and they nest perfectly. I can slide the tray back and forth to get to all the lower areas. I have no clue where to get them and the top one is easy to get out, but the bottom one will probably never come out. All I did was take two layers of craftsman foam for the tools, then I cut them out the way I wanted. It looks much better in the pictures, but I was going for functional not pretty.

I bought a complete (the real deal) one.

It still seems to ratchet a little stiffer (more back drag) then my other S.O. ratchets. So I figured since the head is obviously different then the other 1/4" flex heads, it might be made to closer tolerances to withstand higher torque created by the longer handle. I just don't know.

just in case anyone was interested im pritty sure they are whats known as ''euro crates'' or ''euro trays'. designed for logistics industry to fit together perfectly and be very strong.

I wouldn't have the patience to wait a week for the dealer to come back. I'd be taking the thing apart to investigate.

Who knows?
Mine came in along with a TLL72 today.

The TLLF72 feels okay to me. Pretty smooth imo.

The TLL72 feels quite stiff though. I'll open it up for some Superlube and see if that helps.

I picked up the TLLF72, a couple weeks ago on special. I think it was $90 or $100.I haven`t used it yet, it`s just sitting in the drawer with it`s friends.
