This is nothing special or new, but it’s new to me, it’s a used set of metric snap on long wrenches.I got them off eBay for $250.What a difference compared to some of the cheaper brands, I should’ve made this investment along time ago.Specially with the long style wrenches it’s nice for leverage. The date code on the tools is from 2004.

Congratulations! They are a big investment but they are also fantastic wrenches. Those look barely used.

Thanks, It came down between these and the flank drive plus, but I didn’t like the idea of them Possibly damaging a fastener.

Nice score... you know, you've just stepped onto a long downhill slippery slope... :lol_hitti

I also agree about the flank drives + - I decided not to for the same reason. Some guys really like it, but I figure that's what the box end is for...

Very nice, I'm jealous! I'm currently trying to talk myself into Snap on wrenches as well after returning some William's wrenches that didn't meet my expectations. I want to like the flank drive plus but like you leaning more toward regular flank drive. I'm not a mechanic for a living and have plenty of ways to deal with a stripped bolt head when the clock isn't ticking.

If I could only have 1 set of wrenches I would NOT go with the flank drive plus. They have their uses and they are awesome especially for alignments, but they mark up the fastener and then they get stuck on the nut once they dig into it.

They actually didn't have FD+ in the long patterns for quite awhile. I think they brought them (back?) out in 2015 or so.

Those are beautiful. One of these days I’m going to splurge on a set of Snap-on spanners. Just wish there was a way of getting them for less money on this side of the pond.

Awesome wrenches period. I love mine, standard and long pattern. I’ve been using FD+ Snap on’s professionally for well over two decades and they’ve been the best I’ve ever used. You don’t realize how good they are until you’ve been beating on them daily for so long you forget how much they cost. They have definitely saved my *** over the years. Most people that don’t wrench professionally just don’t understand the predicaments modern mechanics find themselves in with impossible access and tight labor times.

Wait until you try the Snap On flare nut wrenches (I recommend the open end/flare end ones). Welcome to the club and enjoy your investment.

A good solid purchase, any time you buy quality, you may pay a little more. But the pride in ownership, while wrenching,is why we work hard, and spend once.Enjoy,I'm a bit envious.

I didn’t tell my fiancé that I spend 250$ on the wrench set, If she does find out I’ll tell her they are 500$ new Lol, and hope she won’t be my future ex wife:confused:

Your money, your tools for now.
If she does bust your balls for buying quality, make sure the ring is cubic zirconia.

Is it just me or does it seem like a lot more fd+ then fd sets on ebay? Theres tons of options when I was thinking plus and now that I'm looking for fd, it's slim pickings. Don't know if there's anything to that but, seems like a love it or hate it on the fd+ wrenches. I wonder what the percent is they sell of each, if there's just that many more fd+ out there or if people tend to sell the fd+ off and keep fd?

I think most people buying new wrenches in the last few years are buying FD+, so that's what the quick resell market is reflecting. Plain open end wrenches are mostly a lot older and in the hands of people who aren't interested in selling. Seems like every brand out there has some kind of anti-slip design now.

Great purchase! You'll really like them!

Since I no longer work at a shop and am just a DIY guy at this point, I put off purchasing Snap On wrenches for a long time trying to justify others as being "just as good" for less money.

I was wrong. I got a set of SO wrenches for really cheap at a local auction and after using them, they really are that much better. I should have bought these a long time ago. I absolutely love them!

Those wrenches look "nearly" new. This is renewing my desire to keep searching for a set of good, lightly used, high-end tools.

Congrats!

I'm with ya, I don't like 'teeth' on my wrenches. Nice score.

spend some time in the rust belt... the plus's are a life saver. have the smooth jaws for delicate fittings also...

There isn't any other wrench that offers the power and comfort of snap ons. the open ends don't spread under load like every other brand does.

Congrats. some will say why didn't you get x, or **, or *** brand. having had them all trying to be a cheap ***.. there isn't anything that compares.

You made the right choice. Flank Drive Plus are slower to use. They get caught on the corners of a non-rounded nut. And then there's that sound they make....

I have both. Sometimes you want teeth, and sometimes you don't. They aren't the same tool.
I can definetly see that. I'm kinda thinking flank drive for everyday use, and a set of wright grip or the astro flank bite damage bolt wrench set for nasty stuff. While I'd say the fd+ design is better then the wright, it's pretty darn good for a $130ish usa set.

Really?? there ain't no wrench out of Germany, Japan, Europe or Taiwan that even comes close? You have tried them ALL? Really. That's amazing.:headscrat
