I believe these were launched in Q3 or Q4 of 2023 - and are the successor to the XFRM705.

Based on the limited marketing info, I am under the impression that the XFRRM705 is built with stronger metals than its predecessor? Curious if someone has more info to share - the price did increase quite a bit.

I haven't traded in my Mountain branded wrenches, mainly due to price. Usually during AC season, I curse the side mounted selector on the Mountain wrenches. We shall see if I cave and order a 12/14 when AC compressor replacement become more common. A nice feature would be 12pt, corrosion swollen fasteners don't like the flex head/spline combo of the Mountain wrenches.

I have mountains also... the reversing switch is frustrating.

Would a traditional gearwrench work any better than the mountains? I'm sure you have several sets... I have at least 5 sets of ratcheting wrenches.

Oops... just counted from memory... 7 sets including the mountains.

I have the gearwrench XL, which hold a similar function. Mostly I use the mountains, during ac season, for compressor replacement on transverse engines. Really just the perfect tool, along with long 1/4 and koken Zeal. But the reversing lever ***** in that application because I have very limited swing arc.

I think I have..... 5 sets of metric? I did pick up the new design snap on ratcheting reversable combos with the narrower head. So I'm hoping those will.put in some work as well. I added them into my cart and they've been seeing a long of use.

He can go down to harbor freight and buy them for a reasonably decent price whenever he desires to

Perhaps the wrenches are reflecting the actual value of the money we work for. How much gold and silver can you buy for $800 ?
lol , your comparison , it just well ,stupid
why dont we just make bread and milk 50.00 each , that would also reflect the actual value of the money we work for
hell , why dont we just give away any money we earn cause we all know it does not buy much anymore
but to buy 800.00 wrenches cause you think they are worth it is just insane ,cause they are not
would you pay the same amount for a no name identical tool , nope , no one would ....snap on makes very good tools but their pricing is not justifiable

That price is as high as a mountain, which reminds me of Mountain wrenches. That's the set I would buy.
The market is now saturated with good Taiwan made sets to justify the insane price - Snap-on can keep them.

Yeah that reversing switch on the mountain wrenches is beyond annoying. I sold mine and got a set of Tone, they work great with the switch in the right spot!

Honestly I’ll probably buy them. The nice thing about Snap On ratcheting wrenches is they are easy to clean out internal debris. The mountain brand and all other rebranded ones last about a week after being used in a dirt/sandy environment and there is no way to clean them.

I was in until I saw the $800 price tag. Realistically a wrench can only be pushed so far when it comes to quality then you are just relying on name and customer service.

It’s getting to the point that there are many competing lines of tools with similar or “almost as good” quality and much more convenient warranty processes are offered at a fraction of the price of snap on.

Lately, when I buy Snap On it leaves me wondering if it was truly the right choice for quality or made out of nostalgia and a bit of OCD when it comes matching tools.
