I had a cheap set of torx sockets, and figured it was time to actually get a good set! So I picked up the mother load. Also got a flex head 3/8 ratchet. I wish I would have got the soft grip handle. Maybe my dealer will let me do a trade. Also found this cool sign when on vacation at the grand canyon. I couldnt pass it up.

The set was a pretty penny, but now I wont have to worry about not having a torx/allen. I will have it.

Part number = 236efset

HOLY SHEEEEET is all i got to say. That is a lotta dough. looks like 12 torx, 2 screwdriver, and 22 hex assuming metric and SAE is what i'm seeing there. And just wait, theres plenty more torx and hex sizes than those ;) hehe

I bought one after shearing off a few from my Mac "silver chicken" set.I just use the security bits from the Mac set now and the tough jobs are done by the new Snap-ons. The sale price from the promotion was the reason I got stupid and bought the set instead of what I needed......

I ageree. I got a good price so I could not pass it up. I will probaly never use the sae hex, as I mostly work on motorcycles and friends cars if they need it. Oh well at least I wont have to worry if I ever need them.

Very nice but I think they put that stuff in plastic boxes so you end having to buy a bigger tool box. I'm afraid I would have to piut them on rails and toss the box. Takes up 10 times more room than it should

Nice set, but yeah it's crazy how much space those cases waste. The only drive tools I like having in a case like that is my SO 1/4" drive set.

I think SO puts them a huge case to make the set look bigger to justify spending nearly 800 dollars. Thats rediculus. Funny thing is I own all those sockets in SO and I didn't pay near that for them new. I replaced just my SO hex heads with new SO's a few yars ago and I think both sets cost me about 240????(not exactly sure) While I consider them the finest quality available I will say this. I have a set of craftsman that Ive kept in a home box since 1979 in standard and metric. In that time Ive replaced 1 socket and have used them extensively since I bought them. I used them for 10 years professionally the rest at home and I was no casual mechanic at home. For years I ran my business at my home while I kept a regular job so they saw some heavy duty use. Their is a certain Prestige to owning Snap-On tools and tool boxes but they better regroup in a hurry because I have to imagine that Ebay is a Snap-On dealers nightmare. The market is getting flooded with Snap-On tools from Techs who can't hack it, retiring techs and those that got themself in so deep with Snap-On that they are starting to bail. Now that they are outsorcing part of there stuff and keepng the prices at a staggering amount that people are looking at alternative tools. The prestige of making the morgage payment may overide the need for a 10K plus toolbox, 150 dollar ratchets and so on. As nice as the set is even when I was making big money I would have had to walk away from this and Ive been shelling out money to the tool trucks since about 1972-73. As much as I love Snap-On tools I have to say that 730 dollars is an absolute rip off.

I agree with you guys that it does take up a lot of space in the box. Glad I still have plenty of rooom in the box to where I dont have to worry about that just yet. I do agree that the set was a lot of money, but I look at it as I will have these tools for a life time and wont have to keep buying lower quality junk. I can also say that all my tools [and box] are paid in full. If I dont have to funds to buy a tool in full, I cant buy it. No credit cards or truck credit debt for me.

Did you get it for under $280? If you didn't, then its not a good price...LOL jk. :)

Traded in a bunch of junk bits from the flea market ($8.00 total). I got a nice price but coming from someone that claims he can convert a 36 tooth SO ratchet to an 80 series, I have serious doubts about the price you claim to have paid...

I have tried almost all the differant brands of hex sockets and the Snap Ons are the strongest, I have never had to warranty any of them and they usually get used daily

I have a full set of SO torx and hex and I like them a lot. I like eBay for a great source of lightly used SO at reasonable (well, more reasonable than the truck) prices. I fully respect the value of having the truck service, but I'm a weekend warrior so the truck doesn't come to my house.

+1 on dumping the huge plastic box. Ernst rails work perfectly for bit sockets because it's easy to see the size numbers on the rails and I can mix and match drive sizes on a rail.
