I just bought a craftsman 176 piece socket set. It comes with a really weird combination of sockets but for the price I don't think I went wrong. I got it for about 140 bucks. What do you think of these sockets any good? Did I get a good deal? I plan on selling all of the 12 points in this set. If anyone uses these sockets let me know how you like them. I'm pretty sure these are no longer U.S made. http://m.craftsman.com/craftsman-176-pc-easy-read-socket-set-6/p-00934032000P

80 cents per socket. I'd say that's good. There was a couple reviews on your link that they were missing ratchets or 15 sockets were incorrect. Did you have any issues? X2 on the 12 points. No need for them myself either.

i dont know if they still are, but i know the ultimate socket set w/ extensions was on sale not long ago.. all depends what you are comfortable spending..

i bought a HUGE craftsman tool set like 20 years ago, and just filled in all the missing ones with either new craftsman or new husky.. you can def see a difference in quality, but IMO, the craftsman are still the best choice for the money.

edit - the 308 piece ultimate socket set w/ extensions WAS $296.. not anymore.. now its like $350..

the one i bough a long time ago came with every size, in sae and metric, 6 point/ 12 point shallow and deep... in every drive size with wrenches and screwdrivers too.. cant eveen rem what it cost back then, but i still have most of it, and the 3 tier toolbox..

Honestly!

I bought huge Craftsman socket set in 1992 - like 2-300 pcs with 6 and 12 point in 1/4" 3/8" 1/2" drive. Compared to what Taiwan is producing today (Toptul et.at) the craftsman sockets of old are not very impressive and leave much to be desired. Like strength!!
