I dont know if you guys have seen these. Granted I have a ton of socket racks. The MAIN reason why I want more is just to have my 12 point sockets in ONE color rack and my 6 point sockets in another. They look nice... the price is kinda on the high side for me. Yes I realize that they're made of billet aluminum. I dont think they have the sizes engraved in the racks themselves. Kinda disappointing to me.

What do you guys think? Anybody have them?

Look well built but expansion is limited to buying more racks.

I'm pretty good , but even on my most lazy or hungover days I;m able to see the difference btwn 6pt and 12pt sockets. If doing different racks, I use that age old label-maker thing for that.- even that does a CYA if I go all forgetful or aloof.

If socket expansion, or at least compression of what you have is not a option, I move on to things like that. If an unlimited no. of roll-cabs for storage at hand, then all bets are off.
LOL.

jjjrmx5- Biggest issue for me when it comes to 6 and 12 point sockets is my garage is not well lit so its not uncommon for me to go out there with a flashlight to find the socket I need. My sockets on my hansen racks are all face down so once I find the socket I want I have to see if its 6 or 12 point. Granted I only have a couple sets of 12 point sockets but when Im running around like an ******* you bet I always grab the wrong set!

I did think about using a label maker if I bought those kind of racks. But then again I thought about going to an engraver to etch the numbers in. At the end of the day its a socket rack.... I dont wanna spend money hand over fist on a thing that holds sockets. Tool boxes are a different story. :)

I think those are pretty cool. Price wise, $99 may seem like a lot, but I believe that would be quite a bit less money than a similar quantity of Hanson plastic racks, (especially if they are rebranded with a Snap-on sticker)

I have a few sets of sockets in the Hanson trays, and I personally find that I am only so-so at picking the right size socket the first time by looking at the size label displayed on the upside-down sockets on the Hanson trays. But I'm pretty close to 100% picking the right size socket when they are business end up, (and that is the way most of my sockets are stored.)

I get a lot of Hanson trays in the tool collections I buy, and probably 50% are broken. They just don't seem to always hold up. Billet aluminum might get the pretty anodizing scratched, but I doubt you could break one accidentally.

So I give these a thumbs up on all three counts.

I've actually thought about going into production on some very similar racks... most of the stuff on the market isn't worth a **** IMO, they all have some sort of downfall.

With very basic machine equipment, these are a cinch to make. I'm not sure I'd want to try and make eight of them for $99 unless I had fully automated CNC equipment with a bar-fed lathe though.

6pc Hansen sets run about $50 so that aluminum set is substantially more. For that kind of money i'd want size markings as i do find them very helpful.

I've yet to snap a hansen tray peg and really for the $6-$8 they cost individually i wont sweat it if i do some day either.

Nice find, for the price post should have been magnetic.

Ive thought about that too... Over time my racks move around in my drawer from opening and closing the drawer. I thought about one glueing a small magnetic strip on the bottom of my hansen racks. Biggest issue (in my mind) is if the magnetic strip would be strong enough to "overcome" the drawer liner. Maybe one day I'll try it...

I got way tooooo much time on my hands to think about stuff like this.

Seems to be a lot of wasted space between sockets, though I'd imagine that narrows as they get bigger?

Are Hansen Tray pegs equally spaced like that?

i know where that place is.

not a bad price considering you are getting aluminum instead of steel, man hours, and around $11 each

no, they're spaced based off the average size of the socket of any given size.

Do the magnets on those racks magnetize the sockets at all? If so, do you find that there is a problem with metal bits sticking to them or the socket trying to attract things you don't want them to? I don't know if they use all that strong of magnet on the racks.

I've had some experience with tools becoming magnets themselves. I use some big magnets to hunt for meteorites. If I get them close to say a screwdriver or wrench and they make contact, the tool becomes magnetized and stays that way after they are separated. Not so good then unless you can demagnetize. They want to stick to other tools and gather metal bits.
