so i am ready to build the new equipment trailer for the season coming up soon .
this is a driveway / parking lot sealer rig with all equipment .
here is 2 ruff ideas for the trailer frame and layout of equipment .
there will be a 550 gal sealer tank over the 2 axles so this area is already used up . then the last 4 ft of the trailer is a equipment storage platform/tilt down gate ramp combo for the hot tar unit on wheels and the driveway blower . there will be no rear tail cross member since there is this back there .
the front half will be a hot tar propane fired unit on the right front area . then 4 20lb propane tanks securely clamped in to a center post unit with forklift tank clamps . next is another 4 holder unit for the empty 5 gal sealer buckets we use for moving product . there will be a few pegs for up to 50 road cones storage . using 18" cones over the much taller units as we just need to block traffic flow to drive ways is all .
between the front area and BIG tank there will be 1 or 2 pickup truck tool boxes for tools / equipment / gas can storage / caution tape / all this stuff . plan is to drop them in on top of the frame rails to keep it low and easy to get to unless i should put them up on top .
then the bulk storage area will be for 30lb boxes of hot tar product to be used in the tar machines . plan is to keep this low and possible expanded metal on the bottom of the frame rails to create a 5" deep storage area and the floor on the bottom .
the frame layout i have has a big A-frame tongue setup with a 2-5/16" ball coupler . then a center point back to the front cross member or even further back to the 2nd cross member . the A-frame will be below the main platform layout of the whole trailer .
the suspension will be tandem leaf springs eye to eye style springs and equalizer bar in the middle . the springs will be for 14k lbs total capacity . the axles i will be doing 2 7klb 8 lug axles both with brakes . tires and wheels will be 4klb per unit and 12 ply or 14 ply tires trailer special for a good firm sidewall and less flex .
knowing all this is there any tips ? tricks ? or changes you would do for the trailer build for strength and or life span of the trailer ?
the tank will hold up to 6,600 lbs of liquid sealer at 1 time when full from the bulk buyer . the hot tar product in the 30 lbs boxes will be qty of 15-20 boxes at a time max . there will be a 15 gal water tank in the middle for hand washing and or rinsing stuff off . there will be a few hundred lbs of sand and small chip stone for small crack bulk filler and or hole filler .
thanks for any help and tips .
