How does the cost of an all steel building compare to the cost of a conventional pole barn with the wooden framing beams?

That step out the back door looks a bit of a doozy though.

We were contracted to erect the building and an office inside. This is going to house equipment and tanks for a water filtration plant at a landfill. There will be two large tanks at the outside end of the building with a catwalk, hence the high door.
It is 50' x 75' x 24' at the eave. Had to be tall to accommodate tanks inside the building.

It is def more expensive than a pole barn, but surprisingly the building itself was fairly reasonable. The GC purchased it, he told me it was in the 50k range.
Keep in mind that is steel and insulation only. Concrete, footing work, and installation labor will easily double that cost though.

Is that epoxy paint? The buildings we have done at water and sewer plants had to be epoxy. Strangely enough the biggest problem we ever had was at a public recreation center pool. The clorine in the high humidity environment caused rust almost as soon as they filled the pool. Good looking job.

Surprisingly they did not use epoxy. The GC had it painted, and I will add they did a sub par job. It was already starting to rust in spots at just 6 weeks. The doors and jambs are fiberglass and we put frp on the exterior of the office walls.

I did some repairs last year on a small pump station that had chlorine storage, the steel doors and hardware were completely rotted away. The town had them held together with duct tape!

We are thinking of buying a 50x100 with 16'-17' eaves for our shop expansion. Will be following your build.

Job for me is done. These are latest pics I had. There were a few bits n pieces that were finished after I snapped them, which included finish work on the office area. I was just a sub doing the building work. GC now has tanks and pipework to put inplace. I need to go back out (job is 5 hrs from home) and install a door to the electric room once the equipment goes in, but this will not be until mid November.
