New sub-panel question

I realize this is a loaded question but here goes anyway: how much do you think it would cost to install a 100 AMP 20 circuit sub panel 35 feet from the main box? We are having an in-law suite built and as part of that I wanted to add the panel and 3 220V lines for a compressor, lift and s welder. The quote for the additional work came back almost as much as for the entire wiring job for the addition. Can't really swing that right now. So I am thinking of just having the sub-panel put in now and add the rest later. Any guess how much that should run?

Loaded, lol, very. Costs will vary depending on if you use copper or aluminum, and what type of conduit, but I'd say ballpark $400 for power to a 100 amp sub panel.

Depends on what that 35' is composed of, and if you can run aluminum SER vs copper. I'd guess ~$600-800 max. IIRC our estimate to put a subpanel in the garage next to the existing panel was ~$550-600. That was in charotte nc. I thought it was redicuolous so we didn't do it.

The 35' is a straight shot in the basement along an I-beam. About 20 feet of it is drywalled but both ends are open. It will be copper.

If you think the quote is out of line why don't you get one or two more?

How much was it and what did the contractor write up for his scope of work? Did he use aluminum or copper, how many branch circuits, etc? Permit fees?
