New switch on 1/2 HP motor not working?

Off to the store, not the switch I thought I ordered in the first place.

Thought I heard a humming for a brief second hen I flipped it on and see i indeed tripped the breaker.

If a mod sees this it should probably go in electrical...

You probably just want a spst switch. That switch looks like spdt with center off?

Only switch the hot lead. Your ground and neutral should not be hooked up to switch. Hot from switch goes to L1 on motor. Neutral and ground go straight to motor

Don't take this the wrong way but at first I thought this was a joke.

And be very careful as what you have wired is very wrong and I don't want you to hurt yourself or the motor.

How many position's does it toggle to?

Any pics or diagrams?

Do you have a multimeter?


You've likely got a dead short with that way that is wired. Stop plugging it in.
