New Tekton service wrenches.

Today I received an email from Tekton talking about some world political things that shall not be repeated here and they mentioned that they were coming out with new USA service wrenches

Tonight I was looking for a few sockets (10mm of course) to replace two and ordered a set of 1/4 E torqx sockets. And they had a place page for their new service wrenches.

Got an email from Tekton this afternoon introducing a new "prototype release" program where they have manufactured a limited number of (in this case) service wrenches they are going to send out for customer use and evaluation. I don't want to break any rules regarding posting private email...

What do you service wrenches for?

Machine tool repair (mostly cnc) and sometimes large hydraulic systems. Used them almost daily and surely will do so again.

Engine fan clutches as well, did one just yesterday.

Only thing I've ever used them on is an Automated Electrolytic Oxygen Generator.

They were Beryllium-copper Martins.

If they made these smaller like 1/2” I’d buy them to use with my power tools that use a wrench to change the tool. Rather than use the cheap stamped metal chinesium specials that come with them

Hydraulic fittings (low torque), and I've seen them used in industrial maintenance.

These might be too big for that. I throw spare estate sale wrenches in my drawer with tools that come with stamped metal wrenches. Real wrenches are much more comfortable than the stamped ones on die grinders and such.

Those are the perfect spot for excess. Throw in some good looking vintage 3/4”, 11/16”, 9/16”, 1/2”, 3/8”… whatever your tools take… they look and feel much nicer than the tools that came with the die grinders and other tools.

My service wrenches are cheapies that work just fine but that square drive at the end of the handle would be a game changer for sure. I'll probably end up with a set if they have that feature for sure.....

I love my older bonny service wrenches. They have unique low profile jaws and angle that gets them between other fittings on valve assemblies. The jaws on the tektons are too thick and will frequently get stuck in the turn.

I wonder how much torque they're rated for in the larger sizes.

I would guess a lot if they have a square hole for a breaker bar or ratchet.

Beats me if they actually make/made them. We had those and "Berylco" tools for the AEOG.
