I just ordered these "newly released" flip sockets directly from Tekton. My only basis for comparison is an older HF flip socket set, but I am very happy with the new Tekton sockets. They are $40 and I received free shipping and earned a few bucks for next time.

So far I've only used the 21mm, but I can tell you that my HF set was damaging the wheels on my Infiniti, but the Tekton do not rub at all.

These look real nice!! I don't have any flip sockets but I could use them from time to time. I am really thinking these might go onto my to get list. I usually use either my Chrome shallows or my Tekton impacts and only once did I notice the impacts where rubbing the wheel on my brother inlaws Jeeps rims. I might have to look into these more!!
Thanks!!!1

I’ve got the older 4pc Harbor Freight set (when it was 4pc, not 3) and they have marked up my Nissan wheels too. Maybe it’s a Nissan/Infiniti thing? Haha. Other than that they worked very well. That said, it annoyed me enough that I was looking at no mar lug sockets so I’ll have to check these out. Thanks!

There are several reasons I might pick those up, but wheels aren't one of them. I only use sleeved impact sockets for my wheels. The good news is I only need a couple sizes to cover the four cars we have running around...

Ordered 6 sets, one for each of the carts in my Auto program. We will see how they stand up to the gorilla/students!...haha!

The problem with these in a professional service role is... 19 and 21 on separate sockets? Who had that brilliant idea? I avoid wrenching on Europeans as agressively as I avoid anything in life, so I have little need for a 17 on the other end of my 19mm socket.

A 21/19 flip socket and a quality impact gun is a huge help in tearing down the front suspension/steering of a Japanese vehicle quickly. I use them for more than just tires.

You're right, the HF set works fine for most cars, but it was just bugging the heck out of me on the Infiniti. This Tekton set is just a luxury item, but I'm ok with that. :)

Those are cool - thanks for sharing. Is there a recommended adapter to use these with a 3/8" drive cordless impact wrench? Because they require a 3" extension, it seems awkward to use an additional adapter.

How do they compare to the Sunex 2842 1/2-Inch Drive Metric Extra Thin Wall Deep Wheel Protector Impact Socket Set, 3-Piece?

$23.79

The Tekton flip sockets are thicker than the Sunex with sleeve removed.

I still wonder what application(s) led to Sunex making one of those thin-wall sockets in 15mm.

Smart cars have 15mm bolt heads, I believe. I've also seen aftermarket wheels for VWs that use bolts with 15mm heads. Still m12 threaded, just a smaller head. there may be something more common/.

$40 is good for some stinky "flip" sockets?

To avoid damage to the wheels, the ones with protective sleeve are needed. When the sleeves are removed, the walls are really thin.

I paid $10 (on sale) for this OEM set (similar to Sunex, Harbor Freight):

It's up to $42.00, but it's $4.00 off right now.
