Seems like every time I go to the scrap yard I pick up a couple of hooks for my chains. Usually 1/4" up to 3/8" stuff with clevis pins. Slip hooks and grab hooks are both good to me!
The reason is that you just can't find any still made int he USA anymore. Even the pricey high test stuff says "CHINA" really big in the forging.
I have several from 10-20 years ago I got at Home Depot and Handy Dan that all say "Forged in USA" on them. They get more rare every day.
I use chains a lot at work for dragging stuff around and just sort of like collecting these things.
Oh, and I've also got a few old pulleys and other chain related doo-dads marked USA around here as well. Neat old stuff! Cheap and easy to collect!
Anyone else into old clevis hooks?
