New tile foyer, front door threshold

I am going to put down ceramic tile in my lower level. My front steel entry door has about 1.25" clearance from the existing linoleum floor, so I am thinking I have enough room so the door can swing in ok - obviously if i have a rug there it will have to be thin.
But my question is how do I transition between the new tile and the existing threshold? Should I just lay the tile right up next to the metal threshold and either grout the seam or put in caulk?

I really don't want to take the door, frame and or threshold out. I am ok with installing tile, but my 'finish' carpentry skills are not so good.

Lay it right up to the threshold , leave a 1/8 gap and use grout color matched unsanded caulk in that gap to take care of any cracking issues.

I agree on the caulk, A latex caulk so it will expand or contract as the temp changes.

Ok thanks guys,, I just stopped at Lowes and they have the caulks that match their brand of grouts. That is what I will use. I will have to trim some inside doors, but I think I'll have to remove the doors anyways. I think I can handle a skill saw and take about 1/4 to 1/2" off the bottoms of them.

I am have a pretty big area, including the foyer, front room (about 14x15), a small hallway and the laundry room. I want to do the big room first, i've got all the furniture cleared out of it. Now i need to pull up the carpet,, put the tile down in that room and then throw all the furniture in that room so I can do the rest of the downstairs.

I am going to do all the same tile, Lowes has some decent looking ceramic tile for about $2 a 12" tile.

I work at Lowe's in Flooring. What's the item # of the tile you're looking at?

And FWIW, I'd consider putting quarter round at that door if your cutting skills don't allow for clean cuts there. You'll see those cuts every time you walk in and out of the door.

I don't have the item number, but its the white ceramic made in Italy 12", looks like it was on sale for 1.99 per tile. I just checked, there is already a piece of quarter round so I will likely try and re-use it.
I am going to need about 380 sqft.

I do have a nice stand dewalt tile saw, has been in storage for 10 years,, but that saw cuts tile like butter.
