I was looking at that too- I don't believe the Amazon price is a true reflection of what the actual street price will be once more of these are out there. I would it expect it will be in line with the mini Cobras, which make no mistake are plenty expensive themselves. But not THAT expensive. It is pretty brilliant of Knipex to come out with these- legitimate pocket pliers that aren't cheap novelty grade stuff. I carried a Leatherman for years, mostly a Skeletool. My big requirements to have are a knife, a screwdriver, and a pliers. I don't really care about anything else. Once these came out, I finally had an alternative to a multi tool that wasn't really any more difficult to carry in my pocket all day, every day.

I'm in this camp as well. I'm a huge Knipex fan, have more of their pliers than I need and it's more or less an embarrassment of riches in my pliers drawer as a result. I've used them extensively and I understand the value and utility, but even so, I cannot even remotely wrap my mind around the thirst for these XS versions.

I would happily take it as a gift or a freebie for placing a large order with someone, but that's about it. At the price they currently sit at, or even half of that price? @#$% no, not ever.

It is not, but in reading the reviews on the 4" 100mm, one reviewer strongly suggests that the 5" 125mm is superior in almost every way. I suppose if you need something exceptionally small, the 100mm might be better, but I think you might still be better off cutting an inch off the 125mm handle, as ugly as that would be.

I've owned the 125mm for some time, but hardly use it because I find the jaws too thin for most tasks and the handles are already smaller than my hands. Plus, according to the above review, the 100mm jaws are even thinner; something I'd find unacceptable except perhaps as an overpriced cone wrench. On top of that, there is no spring locking button on the 100.

Of all of my Knipex Pliers Wrenches, the 7" 180mm is the one that gets used all the time. It's really perfect. I use the 10" 250mm and 12" 300mm when I encounter larger things, but the 7" is the sweet spot that I'd even buy a second and third if the price is right.

I think it's worth noting the new baby pliers wrench uses the same button-less design for the jaw adjustment that is on the Cobra XS. That's neither a real bad thing nor a significant advantage, just different. I am very fond of my baby cobras and plan to add the pliers wrench too.

I actually prefer the 10" pliers wrench to my 7.5" - but I think that entirely depends on what type of work you're typically doing. There's no debate that the 7.5" is more precise. I find the 150mm version surprisingly capable too. There's tons of times where it's small size and relatively large capacity jaws are the bees knees.

That’s a bit outrageous.

They are the equivalent of $37 this side of the pond.

I know tools are generally more expensive the further they travel (I’ve been buying U.S. made ones for years) but thst’s got to come down over time!

I have a pair of the 7inch at work and they are great when you are using them. I don't like them because they are small enough to fall sideways in my back pocket. They are then a pain to get out sometimes. Depends on how you use them I guess.

I've never measured the torque, but I've clamped onto a 3/4 nut with the pliers, inserted the handles into a two-foot-long pipe, and levered the nut off without slipping. Hope this helps.

I'm surprised they open that large. A 3/4" nut would be over an inch.
