NEW TO FORUM: Refinishing info

Just like the other forums I am a member of, the search 'function' hardly does that: Function.
OR
It's the monkey trying to search...

Either way, I can't seem to find any info on refinishing a tool chest/box...

I got - what I believe to be - a Snap-on chest.
It was painted over (and, probably, over again) and *****.
I would like to attempt at refinishing the piece and making good use of it.

I am really just looking for some threads of step-by-step breakdowns and rebuilds of these things.
I want to aggregate all the info and make my own assessments on what is supposed to happen.
