I just traded a 30 gal oiless craftsman comp for a 60 gal Kobalt compressor,

I downloaded to manual, and it says you should mount this compressor to your concrete slab with vibration pads.

Is this really necessary?

was going to wiring it, but it says white wire to white and black to black, buy my 220 outlet has 2 blacks along with the green, also on the motor itself it says wires are not reversible.

Why would it say this, there is no neutral, it should not matter, right?

If you do no isolate it the noise will resonate. Old bed mat from truck. Horse mat. Even a couple of 2x6 works. See. Lot of guys leave them on the pallet it comes on.

I mounted mine using some old body mounts from a truck I had, and bolted the compressor feet to some 2x4s with lag bolts. I also used some old shock mount bushings to as washers so the bolts don't touch the feet.

So it goes shock bushings on top of the feet, body mount under the feet, and 2x4s. Really cut down on the vibrations, and the "walking".

I took the easy way out on the wiring and hired an electrician.

Mine has been on the pallet for the past 10 years. Perhaps one day when I get a real shop space I'll come up with a neater looking setup.

My breaker panel is right next to where I have my compressor set up, so I just did it myself. It is maybe a 4' run of wire. Just used some #6 wire, and put in a 50 amp breaker and receptacle so I can use it for a welder in the future as well.

Nice trade (even if you had to add some cash to the deal). I recently stepped up from a who-knows-what-brand ancient 20 gallon to a 60 gallon IR and am happy with the extra "oomph".

Are you sure it says wires are not reversible, or does it say the motor itself is not reversible?

Any chance of posting the manual or model number (so I can retrieve the manual and look for myself to confirm)?

I have mine bolted to the floor. I drilled holes in the concrete. Epoxied in some bolts. Used rubber pads to isolate and bolted down...not too tight. I left a little wiggle room. Just a touch. Been good as gold for 10 years.

I wired mine up to a relay with a switch. Not sure what you have going on with your wiring. Obviously you need ground and two hot legs. Why both hots are black is beyond me.

I put casters with rubber wheels under the original shipping pallet, and I can move it out of the way to sweep under it, and take it out of the garage totally if I need the room. Mine is wired with a 30 amp 220 volt twist lock plug, even though some on here have said wiring it that way it doesn't meet code.

Friend came over and slapped me and said that means motor is not reversible, I slapped him back and said, why the hell do they put that statement next to the diagram.

Guess I was just a little paranoid

Tried to offer some cash or a six pack, but friend said he was actually helping him out as he is moving to a smaller place and nowhere to hook up big compressor
