New to me champion Compressor

Any thoughts would be appreciated.

Think maybe the pulley on the motor is too small, but that's conjecture.

Also, why does that motor tag have Chinese on it??

Can you post the RPM of the motor and the diameter of the pulleys? That way we can calculate the pump RPM and see what it is currently running. I can't clearly read the motor tag in that pic, does look like a Chinese motor though.


It's an older, small output champion compressor, single stage, but a well built unit. Looks to be pressure lubricated.

300$ from an asked 500. Not sure if good or not,
Beats me. The motors dated 77. Replacement for a 3 phase maybe? I've only owned it a day.

smaller pulley diameter (electirical motor)seems to be 3.25 inches +/- .25
Big Pulley (compressor) is 18 inches.

With a 3.25" motor pulley, a 18" compressor pulley and a 1740RPM motor, you are getting ~314RPM at the pump crank. Which is pretty low. Now I am not real familiar with those old Champion pumps, but usually the older pressure lubed pumps run about 600-800 RPM. Which would be correct it that motor was 3450RPM. Does it pump up and run good? Did you try it before you bought it?

Maybe give champion a call and see what they can tell you about that model of pump.

What is the model number on the pump? I can't read it in the first pic. Something like 5E, 8E, SE?

How many drive belts does it have? Hard to see in the pics.

That is actually a Taiwanese motor, made in Taipei to be exact (I can read Chinese if that helps), not Japanese.
