New to me Gertsner tool chest

Picked this up for a pittance this morning. Unfortunately, it has water damage to the bottom and sides. Looks like it can be repaired although their is some delamination of the plywood bottom. The drawers and drop panel are all ok.

Any idea on how to determine how old this Gertsner is?

I would try going to the Gertsner web site and see if there is any way to find the age, they might be something on how to restore the box. I think you can also buy new hardware too.

PS. I have a Gertsner O42 that I bought in 1976 and it still looks brand new.

Honcho, your box is a Walnut Gerstner, highly sought after around here, and very re-storable. Check here for Gerstner information. Can't answer on the age, but from what I read, most answers about Gerstner age, are just approximations anyway. Seems there were no official records kept to date them with.
I recently picked up this W42 local, and paired it with this WB-20 from 1967. (know this date from paper packing) Had to add a new lock which I picked up direct from Gerstner. Great people to work with. IMHO, the walnut chest is hard to beat for beauty.

I've been trying to prioritize some projects and even though I have more pressing needs, repairing the Gertsner has captured my attention. Just gotta get the workbench cleaned off before I start taking things apart!
