Last week I pulled this out of the garage of a deceased relative. I believe it is a cabinet that would have held the cutting tools and arbors for a horizontal milling machine. I remember seeing this type of cabinet at the local technical school and in the machine shop where I worked.
Monday I did some disassembly and cleaning and took a few photos after getting started. The old casters are solid, and with some oiling they roll really nicely. The wooden blocks with pegs look professionally made, not just thrown together. What tooling did the cast iron part hold?
I've now cleaned it up and need to reinstall the doors and put it to use in my backyard shop. I don't think, for now anyway, that I'll clean it and repaint. The wooden pegged blocks I'll put away for later, but one of them might make a good coat rack in my shop.
