So I got these Kennedy boxes from my boss at work for free a week or so ago. How do you guys think I did? Its a huge upgrade from only having 7 drawers to work with before. It needs a good clean and the slides lubed. What should I use to lube the slides to make them smoother? Thanks.

I would get Tri-flo, or Rem Oil (the same thing). It has Teflon, and has done a good job for me for years. FWIW, Craftsman used to sell a bottom cart like that one. You have a nice boss.

You can never go wrong with free! Awesome score for you. I have a Kennedy top and middle machinist set up. It was my dads and is old as dirt but still as good as most new mid level boxes.

Holy Toledo . . . . those will clean up nice, and once repainted you'll have lifetime home boxes !!

Your only decision is what color . . . .
. . . . Kennedy brown (I'd say no)
. . . . Kennedy red (no, too many red toolboxes around)
. . . . Kennedy blue . . . . ding, ding, ding . . We have a winner !!! :rocker:

And of course . . . . . definitely . . . . YOU **** !!!

You ****! I have the exact same top box I bought around 32 years ago! If I could have found a bottom like that at a decent price I would have gotten it instead of the HF bottom.

You need to buy your boss a case of beer or 10.

Those top boxes are a good machinist box. Much better than the tiny drawer pull boxes they make IMHO. Clean the slides of grease and grime, make sure they are straight. If anything use a little bit of wax or light oil and they should slide like new.

What is the middle box? Some type of homebuilt riser?

Thanks everyone! The middle box has a flip down front with one shelf in it, perfect for plastic cases that store tool sets

Geez... I'd say you did really well! My rolling box was free as well. However, it is no Kennedy, but hey it was free! When you get it all cleaned up post some pictures.
