New to me Wilton

Hey all,

just picked up another vise to restore. It’s a Wilton 644, it fairly rough shape and missing a jaw pad. I will also be looking for a new swivel lock as this one is pretty jacked. I will post pics on progress and post the serial number when I can read it. I’m thinking it isn’t super old being it has a stuck on Wilton tag instead of it cast.

Maybe just an optical illusion, but the slide looks bent to me on that one....

Dang it I think you are right. I didn’t really notice with the missing pad. Hum what to do with it now…

You're a brave soul. That poor thing has been beaten to death. The slide is bent but because it's a light duty vise you can bend that U channel slide back into shape.

I’ll pop it outta there and see how bad it is, maybe a few whacks with a sledge will do

Bent columbian

Bent the dynamic on my old Columbian. Thought about putting it in a 50ton press to straighten. Not sure if worth fixing. Any ideas?
