Hello! Been lurking here awhile so I figure I'd better post...

Here's some pics of my shed. Space is tight but think it's well used. Let me know what you think!

Welcome to the Garage Journal. Let me tell you, I think you started off on the right foot. That is you posted pictures and I like that. You see, I am illiterate and lazy, you know a picture is worth a thousand words. I prefer looking at a picture and not reading a thousand words. LOL

Uncle: i totally agree that pictures with posts should be the rule. nice little shop and it looks like you get a little wood working done inside and maybe outside it.

I'm really into maximizing space and i think your door storage for clamps is a great idea. I've never seen that before. did you bolt through the door and silicone the bolt on the outside or how did you mount your wood frame?

if you ever have a vise or grinder question you can PM (private message is like an internal email for GJ) and i'll try to answer or read some of the great threads we have on those subjects.

welcome to the forum and i hope you stick around to ask questions and teach us what you know.

Not sure why that first pic doesn't show.

Maybe that'll work!

Hey, thanks for the warm welcome by everybody. It's true that there isn't a lot of working area but it does help to keep my projects small...ish!

The clamp storage is just through bolted using carriage bolts. That rack actually covers a big oval window so it wouldn't be as easy to make off with all my toys!

There's also a pretty big table saw inside and 12" scms...

Got a couple of pics of the outside. It's cold in Montana!

The wood frame with the foam sheet is what I use for my track saw...the blue/grey box is part of a dog house I'm making

Uncle: nice looking shed. I'm guessing 8 x 12 or am i way off? we have snow here in Seattle this past week too, but it's supposed to be in the 50's and raining next week.

I hope you learn a lot from the forum and I've already learned how to make a rack for my clamps on a space i never thought of. thanks for sharing.

My avitar is my daughter's dog that i babysit when she and her husband go out of town and he is 24/7 wanting to play catch so i happened to get a picture of him asking me to throw the tennis ball. any pictures of the dog that is getting a custom made house when the weather warms up?

Thanks guys!

The shed is actually 10'×16'. It's got three areas inside, two with their own access. The barn type door is to the storage area which is 10'×5' with a 6' ceiling. The fancy door is to the workshop area and the loft above the storage area. It feels bigger than it is usually but I do wish I had more space.

Here's the pics of the dogs...

Uncle: don't feel like the lone ranger because you wish you had more space. i bet even the members here with the 40 x 120 garages and hangers wish they had more. thanks for posting the pictures of your cool dogs.

find a few favorite threads to follow and ask questions and post information you know as you find them. also if you do a search and can't find a good thread or answer start a thread in the correct section.

i usually hang my hat in the Vises, grinders and the old toolbox threads. i tend to stay away from the new tool boxes and garage build threads because i call that the dark side. reason being i would love to own almost everything they make or have and it's damn expensive.

take care and hope a little of our warm air coming here makes it to you next week or so.

Well it is technically warming up...it's about 13 out now. Better than -15 like last week! Really should have made insulating the shed a priority this last summer...the projects don't really stop just because it gets cold!

Should I move this thread to the garage gallery? Seems that's where most start out....even though I don't plan on really changing anything. It may give a broader audience the opportunity to see what using almost all of the available space looks like!
I think I could comfortably fill a normal two stall garage!

Uncle: you can start a new thread over in the garage gallery with a different name if you like, but leave this one here so members can see what that new guys are like.

maybe start a thread over there saying Montana shed if you really want to have it have it's own thread. or just read and make posts with comments on other guys threads.

with all my posts i might only have started 10 threads or in that range. most of my posts are on ongoing threads were there are a lot of questions and answers going on or threads that have a ton of pictures like the vise of garage journal thread. good reads if you get some time.
