New to tig welding question

I have just got my self a new ac/dc tig welder and intend to learn to use it for both aluminium and steel, what are the best consumables to go for for a beginner?

The welder also didn’t come with a regulator to I need to buy one, that’s the best type for argon because there seems to be a few options

The torch is wp26

Start with straight argon for gas, as for consumables I prefer 2% lathanated tungsten 3/32” is a good all around diameter to get started although they do sell assortment packs. Get yourself a gas lens kit in either regular or stubby, I prefer the stubby gas lens myself. Then get some coupons and watch the videos Jody has on www.weldingtipsandtricks.com and try your hand at it.

Thanks for that, I have found pure Argon close so will order it up..

Is the tungsten you saying the one typically called blue?

I’m just trying to sort out the gas regulator are you able to link one?

The regulator has a flowmeter on it. You adjust for flow, not pressure.

Not gas regulator, gas lens, it goes on the torch and offers better gas shielding than the stock collet holder you get with most torches.

I started using the ceria tungstens as it can also crossover to AL welding. Seems good for steel which is a much more frequent task.
