Masterforce 56" bottom cabinet with 16" side cabinet. Tomorrow at work I plan to make a top for it. Really digging this box. The guy here helping me unload and put the castors on it couldnt believe the quality of the box for under 1000.00 He has a huge matco box, and said he would put this box next to his matco any day of the week. Is it a snap-on? No, but its a damn nice box!!

Nice! Looks roomy. Masterforce makes a stout box from what I have seen of them in Menards.

Cool avatar by the way.

That looks very nice, and when you consider the cost it's even nicer.

I'm really liking the colour.... Maybe because it looks just like British Racing Green.

Scott, it is super roomy. Actually, way more roomy then I currently need, but thats OK. I would rather have more space then i need so I can grow into the box rather then be out of space right away again. Plus the top doubles as a work bench once I get the piece routed out tomorrow for it. And Rico, its the only color Masterforce boxes come in, but I much prefer it to red. I really am not a fan at all of a red tool box.

Nice box. I would prefer a different drawer arrangement, ie.. more shallow drawers.

Hope you enjoy it.

e30, its made in China. But if you have a Menards around there (which I dont think you do, as Im pretty sure it is a midwest thing only) check them out. Otherwise, Im sure you have a Sears close. Go to Sears and check out the Viper boxes. Made at the same factory, and are pretty much the same box.

Dave, thanks! But its filling up fast when you can actually organize tools, instead of just throwing them on top of each other.

thesilverone: It's a 2001 Trans Am WS6. Was a heads/cam, 6 speed car until a rod bolt let go. Now its just setting there. I have a shortblock here that is also heads/cam, and switched to a TH350, ultrabell, full reverse manual valve body, trans brake, and an FTI 4400 converter. Someday it might get done, but not anytime soon. We just had our first new addition to the family on 9-10-11, so I dont think the car will see much time from me for the next hand full of years. Most likely will get parted out and sold.

I couldn't resist the temptation to upgrade my tool box as well. I acutally called Menards a few hours before close and got them to honor the online price in-store which made the purchase available for the 11% discount. I was so excited about the deal I got two boxes. Never thought I would get so lucky for the two sales to overlap for one day and actually get to douple dip on the discounts!

Rodney, first if all congrats on the soon to be little mech! 9-10-11. Now, nice bottom, i'm so stuck on USA I can't buy a big box from China, I did order the Performax tool cart but will get refund and drive 113 miles to Cheyenne, WY and buy from HF. I wish somebody was going from Cheyenne to close by here and get the cart for me. I may post somwhere and ask.
Thanks, JASTECH

Wish I would have seen this sooner, I would have done what imcesazy120 did. To get that box out the door for under 500 would be a steal. I need a bigger it box. I have a 42" hf box, while its great I need more room. Considering another 42"hf, or the 56" version, or this masterforce, or a kra2422.

Congrats on the new box. It looks sharp!. I'm a new member here @ GJ & just bought a used Snap-on box. After reviewing some of the toolbox threads here I think you also were looking at the one I bought. Sorry about that but it looks like you ended up with a nice box in the end also. Good luck with it! :)

I just picked up a 36inch top box for 225 which I though was a great price for a great box. I already had the 41 inch and a side cab i was thinking about another side cab but held off. Love these boxes for the money i use mine everyday at work and its been a little over a year with no issues yet.

Dragging this old thread back to the top. I see the OP hasn't logged on in several months, but his was one of the posts that convinced me to go with Masterforce.

Menards had their Masterforce boxes on sale, so I copied the setup in the OP and ordered the 56" bottom box and the 16" side-mounted box for $499 and $179, respectively.

Works out to about $10/inch with tax... 72" of toolbox for just under $720.

These things must have some steel in them... the bottom box specs say 313 lbs, and the side box is 97 lbs. By the time I put a 3" butcher block top across all 6', I'll be at 500 lbs before I even load the tools in it.

I haven't decided whether to go with a top box, but if I do, it'll be a smaller one (36" box on the 56" base, for example). I hate not having a place to set down the tool I'm using, or my cup, clipboard, or the new part I'm waiting to install.

On the other hand, I like having my most commonly-used sockets and wrenches above waist height so I'm not bending over for every single tool I need. Decisions, decisions...

Update: looks like they've put some of the boxes back on sale: 56" combo (top and bottom) is $898 on sale from $1,198. 56" bottom only is $499, normally $699. Good through 8/4/12.

Damn those things are cheaper than harbor freight .

"mzbk2l" How are you getting a box in AZ ? When I was stationed in Tucson I don't remember seeing a Menards anywhere from Phoenix to Sierra Vista . Do they ship ?

I have to rent a truck in Indiana to move my girlfriend to AZ next month. I'll make sure it's big enough for my new toolbox, too. :)

Try to stop at Epsteins on the way back . I remember when I drove from NJ to AZ I went through Indianapolis and Kansas City,MO was on the same route .
