Don't like the door on the top chest. Would only like the deep drawers if they're tall enough for T handles on a stand.

Definitely like that they're putting their own name on it. Hope that continues.

Still haven't seen one in person but now there's at least 2 Costco's with them.

There was a previous thread on this too.

Saw them in my local store, the store had locked the bottom box, so I couldn't open it, but the top was open. Some of the locking buttons were already broken off so that's not a good sign, but it's probably because someone ripping it open not knowing there was a lock on it.

Versus the HF 44 that I own, the drawer slides are smoother (or should we say "faster"), but the smoothness also makes it feel cheap if that makes sense. It makes the drawers feel lighter when they rocket in and out, so I couldn't get a good feel of the "heftiness" of each drawer. I couldn't check for dual slides on the bigger drawers because it was locked.

What's the price? The door in the top box is useless.

Seems good for the general homeowner.
That door section would be fine for tools left in the blow molded boxes

I looked at them at my local warehouse earlier this week. I, too, thought the box was locked (which wouldn't be unusual for Costco) but it turned out on the one I was playing with it was just the tricky door safety latches. One needs to release a hidden catch on the far right side of the door as one pulls open the drawer. Works OK, but I did *not* like fiddly requirement to open only from the far right side and would not have the box just for that feature. Why put a full width pull on the drawer?

If someone knows the trick to making those drawer catches more flexible to use, lemme know and I'll revisit the subject...

I didn't care for the wrinkle finish black powdercoat either -- personal taste, but that was too much wrinkle for me.

Pity... I"m normally a big fan of anything Costco is willing to label "Kirkland".

Looks very similar to my Torin. I'd bet it's made by them.

While the cabinet may not be terribly useful for pros I've had no problem finding stuff to put in mine - different shape to this one though.

I found the latches (hence why I was able to open the top drawers). :)

And yeah, I'm a Costco KS sucker too. Maybe they'll revise it after they get some feedback.

The bottom drawer arrangement looks alright, the top is stupid. What they think when they design tool boxes these days? The dewalt is a good example of so close, but so far. The newest craftsman are stupid, what am I going to do with a **** ton of 8" drawers.

What's with the fancy "hubcaps" on all the newer box casters? I do not like them.

As for the door on top, do you guys actually close the lids on the box you have now? not defneding it. I'm just saying that the top of my current box is so full that there's no way in hell I can close it.

While the door seems unusual, the first thought that came to my mind was to use it as a place to store penetrating oils (PB Blaster, etc...), other aerosols and/or cleaning products. Having the product right there within arms reach would be better than having to bend over and reach down into the lowest deep drawer. Of course that is moot if you store your cleaners and aerosols on the workbench or on a shelf.

Just as an observation... How many products do we see from China with schematic diagrams using perspective drawings that make our eyes hurt?

Apparently they never had 8th grade shop class as part of Chinese school curriculum. Mr. Nicholson never woulda let me get away with that...

at a few of the dealerships i worked at in my younger days you had to lock your box or tools would grow legs and walk off with the salesmen or customers

i always made sure that my box closed and locked

Geez, guys. It's not like anyone who frequents this place is exactly the crowd Costco is marketing this to. I'm sure that Harry Homeowner will be satisfied putting his HF/HD/ Lowes tools in this thing, with plenty of room to spare. A 20" deep box that size is not what I'm looking for.

Saw this one at Costco last week. I am not in the market but couldn't help checking it out. For the price, I think it's a great box for the homeowner type. My ToolVault is sturdier. But the large lower drawers have double slides. Not bad. Really decent price, too. And, yep, that upper little cabinet would hold Kroil and etc. just right.

Classic SO spring loaded casters like on a kr1000 is as fancy as I need. How about instead of fancy looking casters, how about putting an actual good caster on a box so it rolls easy when loaded.

Exactly, the manufacturer spends time and money on "designers" and "fashion wheel covers" when they should be spending it on quality parts...

Handles inside (I assume they mean the handles that attach to the outside of the box, not that there are grab handles to grab onto inside of it ).

Doesn't 145lbs sound a little on the light side for a box this size?

I doubt that they are using high-strength steel or stamping rigidity grooves into the drawers.

Funny I just saw one of these at my Costco yesterday. For $550 it seemed like a lot of box. Fine for the home user with a lot of tools. I think the Dewalt I saw at Lowes recently was very similar, though I don't recall their price. All else being equal I'd rather have the glossy yellow than the matte crinkle charcoal.

Not sure how it would compare to the HF 44, but I don't know you could get both the top and bottom from HF for the same price. Someone will have to get one of these and do a review.

I hate the whole layout; too few drawers, to deep for most tools for efficient storage, stupid useless behind the door storage, and even if they fixed all that: I would never buy a box from that COO.

Sorry, but that box is a loser.

Looks a lot like my 56" torin I picked up from costco 6 years ago. If it's the same construction quality as mine it will last, even in a shop/professional environment. I would change the castors, just on principle. I had to drag mine all over a rough shop floor and have been impressed by the sliders. My 42" wide deep socket drawer is full and the twin sliders (2 per side) don't even blink at the load.

I hate the right side drawer release. I have yet to find a cheap fix despite many attempts.

The odd door may or may not be better then the odd cabinets on mine that I use for manuals, laptop, code readers etc.

I think it's a decent-looking box, but the drawer layout looks to be about as handy as a chapped ***. I guess it's similar to the stainless one they offered a decade ago, or so? My buddy is a professional mechanic and swears by his stainless Costco box. He's had it 8 years in a shop environment.

This box in australian costco is sold with a Torin label on it. My issue would be getting a good one.
The one I saw was pretty poorly assembled, door was not even and the drawers didnt close that well..

C'mon - with the separate lock there it's obvious what the 'locker' is for...

That's where you put your pistol!
