New tool wrench

Got a bit of use out of a rarely used tool to make a role for my wrench sets. I will be making more for metric wrenches and some other tools to get my tool box for my truck in to order

Started working on this after making a role to clean up my girlfreinds motorcycle tool kit

They're great.The first one I ever saw was in 197.........4 or so. We called it a Beakie Pouch for the dude that made it( looked kinda like Zappa~~LOL) Back then you had feeler gauges, points file, ignition wrenches....maybe bowl gaskets for a Holley, a distributor wrench for the vehicle it went in, plug wrench.Battery terminal brush. WD40---for sure--. Tire plug kit. Maybe a bowl for other intents..LOL
Didn't need a laptop and Snappy codifier back then. Life was simple.
With a small jack and stands a proper Beakie Pouch would do you a clutch replacement at Napas parking lot in a 65 Malibu. Beer NOT optional.
Damn. Back to work

This will be in my normal use box as I carry my most used tools in my truck so I always have them with me so I wanted them to be sturdy

The bike kit ils the stock tools for the bike but it has a snap on screwdriver to replace the missing one the box in my truck has all the listed exempt the carb bowl as my truck has a batch efi setup big from the early 90s but a Cary a full assortment of auto chemicals to and even a timing light

For anyone that might want to get into sewing projects I would recommend a used industrial machine. You can find these for the price of a new disposable home owner model and they will last forever.
My day job is a parachute manufacture and I run sewing machines all day every day. For a straight stitch machine I would recommend a Juki 555-2. You can find these in great condition for less then $400.

For Sergers I like Merrow's, I have 3 and the newest one is from 1964. Merrow still carries full parts for these machines and they are made in the USA.

I would love an industrial machine but this one was given to me by my mother who was just using it as a spare. When I do leather or very thick vinyl I use a sewing awl but that gets very tiring after more than 6 inches of stitches. The sewing awl actually goes in with my tire patch kit on long rides as I've used it to stick back together torn saddlebags on the road.
I went ahead and made another roll for my metric wrenches as well as a couple of bags to hold miscellaneous tools, the thought being that was everything grouped into bags it'll be easier to find what I'm looking for instead of digging through a pile of tools at the bottom of the box

the labeling will make it easier for me to ask an assistant to hand me a certain size of wrench. Not to mention being an American under the age of 40 I still have trouble with fractions and our measurement system is kind of messed up especially when you've been working on Japanese and European engines your whole life

It is just some olive drab canvas its not the thickest but hopefully it will hold up

I don't recall the last time I threw out a pair of old jeans without cutting the legs off. The denim is useful for all sorts of things.

Still not understanding why you're using something other than a straight stitch. In this use, the difference is mostly aesthetic (which I'm fine with; it does look nice). If you want to add strength, then do some bar tacking at the stitch ends where it is most likely to pull apart. Or add rivets like they do on jeans for the most extreme durability.

Anyway, keep up the good work.

^ nice. my girlfriend has fabricated several of those for me out of old denim jeans.
poke around online and you'll see US military tool kits (and medical kits) in canvas zip-up pouches - take a look at a few if you can for some inspiration. I've seen them use 1/2" and 3/8" wide elastic band to hold the socket in place - I've seen others where they had snap fasteners on some pockets to retain small parts, kind of like the one in the center girlfriend made to hold snap-ring pliers and tips:

That's very nice and looks sturdier than mine realy what started this for me was I just got tired of spending so much time looking for my tools in the mess that they inevitably turned in to. At some point I want to cut out the little storage bin in the rear of my 4runner and install a tool box that will hold everything in my big tool box so I don't have it taking up cargo space
