I sent in my old f936-really hard spring made it work worse then any ratchet I have ever used. Also my fh747 roto head. Sent in two extensions I got from rickster, an fx2 and tmxkl110. Last was a broken s832 that I busted off the lever as it was original and the weaker design. This is what I got back, how do you like this gift, now brings me up to 8 dual 80's, nice  The bad part is sending them to snap on takes about 3 weeks for a turn around.

I got an f80, s80, fx3 and tmxkl110 and fhnf100.

Fancy :) Youre lucky to get Dual 80's back IMO. Does Snap-On still make the 36 tooth series? They keep a special place in my heart as well.

I sent them all in hoping they would all be replaced with the current models and yes they were.

The reverse lever broke off the ratchet while I was using it, and I sent it in. As for the hard spring it made the ratchet a pain to use and I didn't use it. It wasn't worth using as it made it so corse because of the spring, I prefered using my older 710 or 70m instead because they were smooth. The kick-back of the ratchet wasn't right. I guess I could have just beat on them all with a hammer and sent them in and see what happens, but I felt that my complaints were legit and also I don't have a snap on person as I don't work at a shop. I work on computers not cars. If what I did was wrong please tell me and I will send them the money or call up and make it right. I want to have morals so please let me know if i am being shady or flat out a jack-***.

I think you're good to go. It doesn't matter what anyone else thinks anyway. Enjoy your new dual 80's. I bought a couple boxes of tools from the son of a guy who passed a couple months ago and there are a couple of older Snappy ratchets. I couldn't tell you what the numbers are since they're in my box at the shop now but one has a red metal round part on the back that says Snap-On and another one with a black metal round part on the back with snappy on it. Both are scratched a dented up. These are non sealed type too. I actually used them and they seem a little sloppy and it takes a lot of arc to get it to ratchet. I was thinking about cleaning and greasin them up or maybe getting a rebuild kit. I doubt a dealer would give me new dual 80's for them but I sending it in I'm sure they would replace them.

I also own a hard handle fh747a nothing wrong with it, but the one I sent it was stripped in the head or the gear, but didn't want to deal with it. Also I don't think the 100 is any better at all. The dual 80's yes but not the 100, I ca't tell the difference.

What address did you send them to?
Is there a warranty dept you need to send it to?
Also, what was wrong with the 1/2 drive ratchet?

Here you go, put a list of the part numbers in there along with name and address and wait 3 weeks or more.

the only 936 ratchets that I know you can get are the tr936 and a think the f936fod. other than that they are gone. too time consuming to repair the ratchets, easier to grab a new one and send you on your way with a shiny new AWESOME ratchet.

I bought it used, so I don't know if it was the wrong spring, but the ratchet always seemed to have a problem. I don't think I ever looked at it because I didn't have the tool to hold the ball in when I got the ratchet it, now I do. I just gave up on the ratchet and used something better.

How time consuming is too time consuming?

So you're telling me you turned in two serviceable ratchets because one needed the correct spring and the other one needed a reverse lever?

I think what they did was instead of fixing the ones he sent in, they just sent him new ones.:headscrat

I couldn't have in good conscience sent them in - I would've had to order rebuild kits and rebuilt them myself. That's some amazing customer service on behalf of Snap-on to replace perfectly good ratchets that could have easily been rebuilt.

I think the reason that Snap on is just replacing the old ratchets with the current model is due to the cost associated with keeping ratchet repair kits in stock for ratchets. It appears to be cheeper just to keep repair kits for the current model rather that for ratchets that are 30 plus years old. Look at the Snap on site under ratchet repair kits. It must take up a lot of space not to count the inventory that must be kept up with just to repair a ratchet that is really old. Just my opinion.

I sent in an S936 that had peeling chrome and a slip-joint pliers that the handle was falling off of, and they sent me a brand new S80 and new slip joints. I emailed Snap-on about these issues and was told by them that both of the tools have lifetime warranty and to send them in. That was all I needed to make myself not feel bad about it!

You should not worry that you performed some moral transgression!

I have spend enough money on kits in the past and I paid 15 for shipping with insurance. Proto would do the same if you send them in, and I have in the past. If I had a snap on rep who would call me back I would have gotten them fixed, but I am tired of dealing with dealers who don't care about the little guy. Now if you break a tool on purpose to get replaced with a new one, I have a problem with that. If it breaks then by all means get it replaced and or fixed.

It is not an inventory issue, it is a labor issue. They dont let the dealers replace ratchets, we have to rebuild them if possible. I have a whole drawer full of kits. Snap-on does not have someone in the warehouse whose job it is to rebuild ratchets that have been sent in.

You returned a tool with a lifetime warranty to the manufacturer and they replaced the tool with a new one. I see no issues.
