New tools today Did i do good?

hello so i just bought my first set of sockets made in the usa. reg price was $399 i got it for $199 out the door the ratchets are real garbage so i bought a nice craftsman premium one 80 tooth but when the snap on guy comes by my work again il buy 1 or 2 nice ones from him. the breaker bar i bought is a 1/2 x18 inch its made in the usa too. next thing I'm saving for now is a good set of wrenches I'm thinking sk but must be made in the us what ever i buy.

The craftsman ratchets that come in the sets are not what they used to be. Smart move buying the premium one.

"Wright" wrenches are made in the USA. Wright used to private label them for MAC tools

The 309pc set goes on sale a couple times a year for $200, not a bad deal at all. I bought a set and kept the ratchet wrenches and a couple sockets and sold the rest for more than I paid for it

Thats just what im thinking of doing im just starting out my tool colection but i dont think i need both 6pt and 12 pt of each socket. so mayby i will sell the 6pt and just keep the 12point socket what would you do? thanks

Keep them, they are paid for. I bought a Craftsman set, not quite that big, back when Craftsman was pretty good. Sold off the old style 1/2 ratchet because I already had one and the part of the combination wrenches(needed money) and have regretted it every since.

your right i won't get much for it anyway and the sockets are nice it's not that baby easy read kind that id never buy . there still made in the usa i think for me starting out this gives me a good boost for my sockets. but the ratchets that came with the set are not going in my box lol they are real bad trust me. so once i see the Snap-On guy come by my work again ill go out to his truck and buy my first Snap-On tool

So disappointing to hear that Craftsman has gotten that bad. I knew the power tools were questionable but had held out hope that the sockets and wrenches were still ok. My dad gave me a pretty complete set years ago. I guess I should start trying to fill in the missing pieces while I can. I'd say hang on to them until you have replaced them with something better and even then maybe as the set you keep in your vehicle.
